PRE-GAME RANT
So tonight the Oilers face the Maple Leafs. The Oilers are pretty hot as of late, having earned 9 out of a possible 10 points in their last 5 games. The same can be said of the Leafs, themselves, who are on a streak of their own as they try to make the playoffs for the first time under the new CBA. Currently they sit in 8th, but are barely clinging on for dear life. If all is right in the world, the Leafs will miss the playoffs again. But I almost pity the team.
Good news on the Oilers front.. Tom Gilbert returns! And yet again, thanks to the win and your in policy, Devan Dubnyk gets the nod in net. Good for him! The Oilers will also continue to play Gagner with Hall and Eberle, so fantastic news for any of you folks (myself included) lucky enough to have him in a hockey pool.

PRE-GAME RANT
Looks like the Oilers are dressing the thug line up again tonight. Expect both MacIntyre and Stortini to be in. Also, I’d expect Strudwick in for Vandermeer, although I’m not entirely certain he’ll replace his minutes (Vandy has been fantastic lately, playing with Whitney).
The two teams are fairly equal, as far as records are concerned. The Oilers have been the hotter team as of late though, although their last two games they got lucky with the final score being what it was.
Last time the two teams faced was in November, and the Oilers came out on top with a 5-0 win. And while in the photo above, Orr is seen hitting MacIntyre in the face, this was just the starting point which set Big Mac off into destructo-mode, as the Oil won that fight too.
Prediction: 6-1 Oilers (please be true, as Trogdor and I will be at the game tonight)

PRE-GAME RANT
Tonight the Oilers face off against a fairly equal team, as far as standings are concerned (the Leafs have one less game played – one less loss). The Oilers head into the center of the hockey universe to battle against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I’m surprised this one isn’t on TSN again, but I’m happy to hear the voices of Debrusk and Quinn again.
I’m thinking another win for the Oilers who have looked a fair bit better as of recently. I’m thinking this will be a big one.
Prediction: 6-1 Oilers. That’s right. I’m not planning the cup route or anything, I just think the Oilers will continue riding the high tonight and beat up on an equally poor team.

PRE-GAME RANT
The battle of the basement takes place tonight. Who will you cheer for? It will feel dirty cheering for Toronto for a lot of people, so I think most will cheer Edmonotn on. But at the same time, having some extra separation would be nice. The Oilers are coming off of a wild one versus the Habs on Thursday. It ended up being settled in the shootout (5-4 final). The Leafs have won a couple in a row, which has given them a 7 point lead on Edmonton with 15 games remaining for both teams. A regulation loss tonight could all but seal the deal on 30th overall place for the Oilers.
Prediction 3-2 OT win for Edmonton.

GDT - Edmonton Oilers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs - Aka Sewer Battle 2009
PRE-GAME RANT
Welcome one and all to Sewer Battle 2009. Who can forget those prophetic words Brian Burke once spat out upon having that soon-to-be-overpaid-bum Penner snaked out from under his nose in which he chastised Lowe for running the Oilers into the sewer. Well, welcome to the stink house, Brian! Watching the Oilers and Maple Leafs go at it should be like watching two bums fight over a half decomposed squirrel…. except where the squirrel has more fight left in it than the two bums. But hey, at least the Oilers stand a lot to gain if they finish dead last.
Currently, the Oilers are on a 7 game losing streak. The Leafs are hot and are currently on a 1-game winning streak! Ok, they are 2-4-1 in their last 7. If this one goes to OT and isn’t settled, Lowe and Burke should scrap it out, Thunderdome style. Two men enter, one man leave. Either way, I think there will be several happy Oiler fans.
Brain: 3-2 Toronto
Heart: A support beam falls from the roof, crushing Brian Burke’s skull.
