2011 WJHC Team Canada Roster set

The final roster has been set for Team Canada for the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships. Two Oilers draftees have made the cuts – goaltender Olivier Roy of Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL and Curtis Hamilton, Left Winger with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. Here is the roster:

Liam Reddox and Ryan O’Marra are the first names cut so far. Stay tuned for more….

Edit: Cuts are: Shawn Belle, Richard Petiot, Ben Ondrus, Liam Reddox, Alex Giroux and Ryan O’Marra. No word on Omark yet. All these guys have to clear waivers too.

Edit 2: Linus Omark and Chris Vande Velde are also cut. They don’t have to clear waivers and have been assigned to OKC. Omark none too happy about it…

This leaves our final roster at (assuming JFJ is on the IR and Souray is gone before season start):

Next wave of cuts…

No one likes being cut

The Oilers announced the next wave of cuts today. They started by placing Gregory Stewart and Brad Moran on waivers (this is for the purpose of reassigning them to Oklahoma City). They then followed that up by assigning Teemu Hartikainen, Johan Motin, and Jake Taylor to Oklahoma. Jared Aulin has been released.

Oilers have announced 5 more cuts

Sent to Springfield Falcons of the AHL: Devan Dubnyk, Kip Brennan, Taylor Chorney
Sent to Regina St. Pats of the WHL: Jordan Eberle
Placed on Waivers: Rob Schremp (if he clears, he’ll be assigned to Springfield).

Theo Peckham was also placed on the IR.
