Theo Peckham has accepted his qualifying offer which means he will earn $1,075,000 next year. He will still be an RFA upon expiration.

NHL_Oilers just tweeted that Theo Peckham will be switching from #49 to #24 this year. Odd. But whatever floats your boat, Teddy. Edit: this is his old Owen Sound Attack number, so looks like the 49 was just his team assigned one and temporary (perhaps while Staios was here).

Oilers re-sign Theo Peckham and sign Yann Danis

Old news now, but I like to keep a post up for posterity’s sake and for comment posting…

The Edmonton Oilers signed “Teddy” Peckham to a 1-year deal reportedly worth $1.075M, according to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug.

This is a very good signing. The Oilers get him for cheap. It’s a short deal because obviously Peckham and his agent want them to be able to prove that last year’s season by Peckham wasn’t an anomaly. Look for a good season from #49.

Edit:

The Oilers have also signed goaltender Yann Danis. Danis played 31 games for Khabarovsk Amur in 2010/11. He had short stints in New York (Islanders), New Jersey and Montreal. However, Danis spent most of his time in the minor leagues in Hamilton since being signed as a free agent by Montreal in 2004. I would have to assume that Danis is being added for the Barons club, and not the big club.

Oiler RFA’s Qualified

Racki seems to be slacking off on the Oilers news front (moving), so I’ll have to pick up some of the slack here.

Today from the Oilers site:

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have issued qualifying offers to the following players:

Gilbert Brule
Andrew Cogliano
Jeff Deslauriers
Devan Dubnyk
Colin Fraser
Sam Gagner
Jean-Francois Jacques
Ryan O’Marra
Theo Peckham
Liam Reddox

I don’t like the fact that Pouliot didn’t get qualified, but other than that it looks pretty standard. I’m expecting deals to be announced going forward for a few of the players, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Poo gets an offer from the Oilers as an UFA for league min.

Oilers recall Dean Arsene

Word from Dan Tencer was that Theo Peckham suffered a separated shoulder on a hit in last nights game in which he went into the end boards (looked not-so pretty). Dean Arsene has been recalled to fill his skates.

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Dean Arsene from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Arsene, 29, has two goals, nine assists and 100 PIM in 56 games this year with the Falcons. He has also played in three games with the Oilers gathering four PIM.
