Moreau, Nilsson, O’ Sullivan on Waivers

By , June 29, 2010 10:43 am

As per TSN site:

The Edmonton Oilers housecleaning is well underway as forwards Ethan Moreau, Robert Nilsson and Patrick O’Sullivan were all placed on waivers on Tuesday setting in motion the buyout process.

I know Racki will be happy, but I am more of this mind. But no big deal. Only one of my most favorite players ever just got waived from my team.

Hack, Smack and Whack

Hack, Smack and Whack

With Ryan Stone in the line up, the Oilers are currently 9-2-1. Now obviously, Ryan Stone isn’t that big of a difference maker to think that he alone is lifting this team to the cup. But with all of our size players (Penner, Stone, Stortini, JFJ, Moreau) in the line up, Quinn is able to stick to the original game plan of putting a big guy or two with every small skill player we have to open up ice for them.

The newest incarnation of size with skill comes in the form of a line that Pat Quinn has dubbed “Hack, Smack and Whack” – Nilsson, Stortini and Stone. Visnovsky’s Shoulder

Visnovsky’s shoulder is still an issue. He told Dan Tencer in an interview earlier that it isn’t 100% yet and he’s still having problems with the rotation. He is at least a week away from seeing any action, but he should be recovered in time for the start of the season. “The shoulder is good, it’s strong. The doctor said I need one more week for re-hab, maybe I’ll miss the first week of the exhibition games,” Visnovsky told reporters. Today was Visnovsky’s first practice since being injured last year in a game vs. Chicago on February 3rd, 2009. Continue reading 'Edmonton Oilers Training Camp – Day 2'»

Somewhere this album holds the secret to our money woes

Somewhere this album holds the secret to our money woes

* UPDATE: The Offiical Oilers site reports that Smid has re-signed for 2 years, Stone and Brule for 1-year on a 2-way contract (amounts not disclosed yet).

** UPDATE 2: It was mentioned in a post on Oilers Nation that Brule will receive $800K. Still no word on Smid’s amount just yet. But I’m guessing ~$1.5M.

So today Jim Matheson published an article about the Oilers being tight to the cap with little wiggle room. That spurred what will become the rant to follow. Continue reading 'Budget Schmudget'»
