Unfortunately for the Coyotes, NHL players do not accept food stamps as salary payments
The Phoenix Coyotes signed Adrian Aucoin to a 2-year deal yesterday. That leaves Zbynek Michalek and Derek Morris left on their blue line to sign. Either of these guys would be nice additions to the Oilers.
Derek Morris is an Edmonton born player who brings a pretty all around game, including physical play. He could stand to be a bit better in his own zone, but he is skilled in the offensive zone. His $3.3M contract last year puts him in a spot that may make him a bit pricey for a team such as ours in a rebuild, but he would be a decent replacement for Souray. He also plays that oft-sought right side. Continue reading 'Let’s Make A Deal! … with the Phoenix Coyotes'»

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers head into Arizona tonight to conclude their road trip with a game against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena. The Oilers are winless on this road trip so far, and have lost the last 4 games. The Coyotes have dropped 4 of their last 5 games, having cooled off a bit after climbing the standings quite handily. They will look to bounce back against a team that hasn’t really had much of anything go right for them this year.
Prediction: 4-2 Coyotes

GDT - Edmonton Oilers at Phoenix Coyotes
PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers are coming off a very poor performance in Colorado in which Deslauriers kept the score as close as it was. The previous game was a loss against the Wild after two wins (vs. Philadelphia and Carolina). The Coyotes were blanked 4-0 vs. the Stars on Saturday, but their previous six games were win. The two teams have had opposite looking seasons this year. The Oilers are 2-7-1 in the last 10 games while the Coyotes are 7-3-0. The Oilers are 18-33-6 on the year and the Coyotes are nearly the inverse at 35-19-5. This is another good example of a team that has gone through tough years but is seeing the fruits of their labour. With any luck, the Oilers will see the same turnaround soon.
Anyways, I figure another loss, unfortunately (depending on your point of view, I suppose). Prediction: Coyotes 4, Oilers 3. Continue reading 'GDT – Edmonton Oilers 1, Phoenix Coyotes 6 – Feb 8, 2010 @ 7:30 PM – SNET – Game 58'»

First time ever I get to reuse the exact same picture. Maybe they were hoping for a jersey retirement and covered all of the Coyotes games
Go team Canada!!

I wanted to use the Jets logo, but Racki thought that would be lazy
PRE-GAME RANT
We got our asses kicked on Saturday. But just think, its not so bad. The Blackhawks are going to win the cup this year so at least we lost to a really good team.
I spent the weekend split between one of two states (drunk or hungover) so they had better win and make my head feel better. But its PPV so I won’t be ordering this one, and I’m not sure my brain can handle Mr. Phillips right now.
The oilers need a win, and pronto, or the season is going to reach the point where there is no coming back (of course they will win a bunch at the end and make it look close). Khabibulin is out for his yearly injury break, the coaching staff isn’t pleased with our best player (who is on a career year to date), a group of our veterans had a fantastic meeting with the coaching staff letting them know that they should pull their heads out of their asses (I’m guessing) and …oh crap, I just realized I have a hockey game tonight so I won’t be watching this one.
Oh darn.
Now time for Racki Stats: Continue reading 'GDT – Oilers 4, Coyotes 0 – Nov 23, 2009 @ 7:00PM – PPV – Game 24'»
