From the Oilers site:

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have assigned defencemen Taylor Chorney and Alex Plante to Springfield of the American Hockey League.

Chorney was recalled to Edmonton on January 25 and appeared in eight games with no points and a -3 rating.

Plante was recalled on January 31 and played in his first National Hockey League game recording an assist with 12 minutes of ice time. He skated in four games total with one assist and a +1 rating.

That means that both Smid and Staios will play tomorrow night against Phoenix.

Chorney re-assigned to Springfield – 2010-01-23

By Racki, January 23, 2010 1:23 pm

Per the Oilers website:

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have reassigned defenceman Taylor Chorney to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Chorney, 22, has played 21 games with the Falcons collecting four goals and five assists. The Thunder Bay, ON native has appeared in 14 NHL games with the Oilers this season posting one assist. He was recalled on Wednesday and suited up in last night’s game versus Dallas.

Chorney was selected by the Oilers in the 2nd round, 36th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Seeing as how no one has been recalled in replacement, I presume that means Smid or Staios is back.
