PRE-GAME RANT
Happy Boxing Day, everyone. I hope you enjoyed your Christmases. Me, mine has really just begun, as it is now t-minus 2-days before I am out of here for Mexico.
The Oilers will play the Canucks tonight. For the two of you that haven’t seen this pic yet, I hope you enjoy it. It is completely unedited. Anyways, the Oilers have 1 win and 1 loss versus the Canucks this year. Those games came way back in October. Some of you might remember Hordichuk’s promise to keep the Canucks honest. Unfortunately he never got to really live up to that promise when an attempted hit went bad and he injured himself. But with any luck he’ll play tonight and show us what he really wanted to do.
No line ups just yet, but I hear Alex Plante is in and Theo Peckham is out. I’d imagine that Khabi will also get the start.
Edit: Hemsky continues to be out (Sinus infection), and Ryan Whitney is also out tonight, thus the Plante call up. Whitney has Tendinitis in his ankle. Nikolai Khabibulin confirmed to get the start in goal tonight.

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers line up that was dressed on Saturday played great vs. the New York Rangers (and team that absolutely throttled us 8-2 last year, and added some more goal scoring this year)… so why not give them another go? That’s exactly what will happen tonight. Absolutely no changes, including in net.
Khabibulin has been eerily good so far this season. One can definitely say that he hasn’t been tested too much, and I wouldn’t argue against that at all. Although I’ll say that the few times he has been tested, he’s been up to the challenge. He’s had some scary play outside of the net at times though. But we are definitely used to that, aren’t we? I’m hoping that Khabibulin will keep his streak going. Right now he’s doing his best to show that he’s still got it, being #1 in the league in GAA and #2 in SV%. He nearly had two shutouts in a row, as well. Everything is looking good for him. He mentioned in the off-season that the drunk driving case weighed very heavily on him, and he spoke to how much of a relief it was to have it behind him. If this is true, we might see a rejuvenated Khabibulin all year, which would be a real blessing after seeing him shit the bed basically since he got here. Never underestimate a guy who has something to prove (right Penner?… or wait..), but I’ll watch him closely and with great skepticism. As with any Oiler though, I just hope he can turn things around and make us regret this albatross contract a bit less.
There has been some talk about the Continue reading 'GDT: Oilers 3, Canucks 2 – Game 8 – 2011-10-25 @ 7:30 PM MST – SNETW'»

PRE-GAME RANT
Tonight the Oilers butt heads with the Canucks at Rexall place. I’ll be at this one, so I’m hoping for a good game. The Canucks haven’t exactly gotten off to a good start with just 1 win in their first 4 games, so there may be a chance that we win this one. We didn’t get the nickname “slump busters” for nothing though.
Dubnyk has been confirmed to be getting the start tonight, which makes me happy. I’m a firm believer in going with your best goalie until they show they need a night off. That hasn’t happened yet, however Dubnyk did get a night off vs. the Wild on Thursday. To his credit, Khabibulin was fairly good in net (although some of his puck handling decisions were scary) and I think that he played like he deserved to be there. But it really is good to see Dubnyk in net for this one, as I firmly believe he can steal games. That is likely what he will need to do against a team like Vancouver.
It really is too bad that we won’t see Ben Eager in the line up for this one, as he has some scores to settle with the Canucks. However, Darcy Hordichuk (as Jason Gregor noted) stated when he was signed that he will keep the Canucks and Flames honest. I’d love to see him do that tonight… maybe even stir the pot a bit.
Prediction: 4-2 Oilers

Hordichuk chucks them for us now..
Sorry folks, no line combinations yet. This one is a bit thin, just like the Oilers current roster which lost 3 d-men last night. I think we know who will play the blueline tonight, since we’ve only got.. what.. 6 healthy D? Barker, Gilbert, Peckham, Potter, Sutton and Petry. Not sure who the forwards will be, but RNH is definitely in this one. Hopefully he plays with Hall and Eberle again tonight.
I’ll put the lines up later on when I have them. Continue reading 'GDT: Oilers at Canucks – Pre-season Game 8 – 2011-10-01 @ 8:00 PM MST – CBC'»

Julianna Guill - IMDB tells me she started in a Friday the 13th movie
Happy Friday 13th, everyone. Steve-O is away on vacation right now (in Mexico… there is a good chance he is currently being finger-banged by a Federale right now). So today, I present you with the MMS. Now, MMS once stood for Monday Morning Standings, but tradition has shown that these things never appear on Mondays… and who am I to break up tradition? Plus, with it being the playoffs, we decided we’d only release one MMS per round. So here it is… enjoy. Continue reading 'MMS – Post Round 2 edition'»
