PRE-GAME RANT
I’ll be at this one, reppin’ the home team. I expect there to be a lot of annoying Habs fans at this one. And to be honest, they’re my second fave team, so I’ve had my share of being an annoying Habs fan. However, those days of really, truly cheering for the Habs are long behind me. I’m all about the Oilers now, and I hope they smoke the Habs.
Anywho, tonight we will probably see more of Linus Omark. Sounds like he’ll get 2nd PP unit duties. Mind you, our powerplay hasn’t been given a lot of opportunity by refs these days, so that will remain to be seen.
Khabi gets the start in net tonight for the Oilers. Budaj is between the pipes for the Habs. That should be a good thing, but back up goaltenders generally play like Ken Dryden vs. us, so we’ll see. And I seem to recall Carey Price having a bad performance or two vs. us over his short career. Darcy Hordichuk is in, Ben Eager is out (flu).
No word on lines, so my lines below are a complete guess.

The Montreal Canadiens have traded Jaroslav Spacek to the Carolina Hurricanes for Tomas Kaberle. I’m thinking that Kaberle revives his career a bit under Montreal.

PRE-GAME RANT
Magnus Paajarvi sits. That’s the story tonight. No wait.. the story is that Ales Hemsky returns to the line up. Both are big deals, in my opinion. Paajarvi has struggled this season. He has 1 assist in 13 games. Really, there is no way to sugar coat that. It’s downright awful. A view from the press box is in order. AHL time may even be in order. Not as a punishment, of course, but he might be having a tough time playing 3rd line minutes and he may have lost his confidence. I wouldn’t put him anywhere near Linus Omark though right now.
Anyways, back to the good… Cam Barker also returns to action tonight. Our defensive pairings will get a bit of a boost by that news. The old Smyth/Horcoff/Hemsky line will be reunited again, to which Hemsky is quite excited. Our 3rd line might finally be able to score. It looks pretty bleak on paper, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys work their butts off and score a couple tonight.
I always like when the Oilers play the Canadiens. The Canadiens were once a second favorite of mine. They aren’t so much now, although I’ll cheer for them in the playoffs when the Oilers are out. But the other reason I like to play them, is they often bring out the best in our team and make for some exciting games.
Prediction: 4-0 Oilers

PRE-GAME RANT
Hooray, HNIC on a Thursday! Too bad I’ll be playing walleyball… The Habs are in town tonight for a warm up match before playing the “Heritage Classic” down in cowtown on Sunday. The Oilers have taken the previous and only other game this season in Montreal, but needed a shootout to finish it. The Habs have cooled off and are nursing a few injuries, so hopefully we get the same effort we did on Monday and the boys impress. Horcoff had a big 3 point night to lead the team, time for another speech?

PRE-GAME RANT
For many years since I was old enough to watch hockey, I was an Oilers fan first and a Habs fan second. So I’ve followed these guys for years and years as a second favorite team. That said, I’m hoping the Oilers spank them tonight. But I don’t think it will be an easy task the way Price has been playing (he will get the start tonight).
Some roster changes tonight for the Oilers. Gerber has been returned back to Oklahoma City as Khabibulin will come off the IR. Hemsky also makes his triumphant return to the lineup tonight (woohoo) and will play with Gagner and Paajarvi. I like that, because right now Penner, Cogliano and Brule are flying… you don’t want to break up a good thing, especially since Cogliano and Brule were slumping big time before. I hope that Paajarvi can be worked out of a scoring slump of his own, playing with Gagner and Hemsky.
Prediction: 3-1 Oilers
