PRE-GAME RANT
Tonight is as big of a “playoff” game as we’ll get to see this year. Winning this game would put the final nail in the coffin of the Calgary Flames’ playoff hopes. Wouldn’t that be nice? The Oilers are in a little danger of passing the Avalanche, but they’d have to run the table and the Avalanche would have to lose all their remaining games in regulation time. Each team has 3 games left. I think we’re pretty safe here, especially with the Wild coming up later. Although, we do play the Avalanche as one of our final 3… so that will be a very important game.
Anyways, I’m really hoping for a win tonight, so I’m going to send some good vibes with my prediction. Plus Alan-NottsUK will be at the game, and he’s money (currently seen 3 Oil games live and we’ve won all 3).
Prediction: 5-1 Oilers, if Dubnyk starts again. 5-4 if Khabi starts.

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers have a chance to put another nail in the coffin of the Calgary Flames’ playoff hopes. That would be nice to see. The Flames are two points behind the playoff cut right now, but they’ve played 76 games and most teams have played 73 or 74. If our AHL team is going to win one in the remaining 8 games, this is the one.
That said, I don’t see it happening. Although we do have some nice new lines tonight! (thanks to Dawgtoy for relaying that).
Prediction: 5-1 Flames

PRE-GAME RANT
Happy new year, everyone! Battle of Alberta time again. Sounds like the fucking Winter Classic is going to cut into this game. If I understood Elliotte Friedman right, if the Winter Classic is all sorts of awesome, they’ll continue to show that and cut into the Oilers game.
Shawn Belle should play tonight, as he was called up yesterday. Best guess, I think he’ll play with his AHL partner, Jeff Petry. This will leave the other pairings intact.
The Flames currently lead the series with one regulation win, one shootout win, and one loss. I am thinking that the Oilers, as battered as they are, are going to give this one their all. Will it be enough? The Flames are on a 3-game winning streak right now.
I’ll go with the brain/heart prediction on this one. Brain says 5-2 Flames. Heart says 4-2 Oilers.
FAIRLY-EDUCATED-GUESS LINES

PRE-GAME
The Oilers had back into Calgary tonight to take on the Calgary Flames. The last outing was a pretty poor one, as the Flames beat us 5-3… although the score probably shouldn’t have been that close. The Oilers played a good half of a game, at best, and were dominated yet again in the faceoff circle.
So we’re back to thinking the Oilers are a basement dweller again… welcome to the roller coaster ride. I’m going to have to figure that the Oilers put up a much better effort against Calgary tonight than the last game (both their last game – against SJ – and their last game against the Flames). I still question whether that will be enough. So I’m going to go with a 4-2 Calgary win here, although I think the Oilers will show a very spirited effort (oh god, please).

PRE-GAME
These games are the moments we Oilers fans live for. The Battle of Alberta, part 2 (at least the regular season version), plays out tonight in Calgary. Word is, Renney is going to ice a tough as nails line up (meaning both MacIntyre and Strudwick are in, word has it, although Stortini or Jones may be out) in case the Flames are looking for some revenge for the beating they took. We won the war and the battle, although I’d say they got the best of us in a couple of the smaller fights. Look for a spirited battle tonight, unless the Flames roll over early and give up the fight before it starts. But I don’t see that happening at all. I think Ivanans is just recovering still from being KO’d by MacIntyre, but I could even see him looking for another round… I almost feel sorry for the guy and as crazy as it sounds, I hope I don’t see him fight tonight.
Anyways, I predict a closer game this time… 3-2 Oilers.
