PRE-GAME RANT
Well, I’ll be at this one tonight (thanks to OG77, who will be going as well), but as always the GDT chat will be up. This one is on CBC tonight, of course, and is a later one at 8:00PM.
The Oilers have been riding a high as of late, sweeping their recent road trip in the east, and having won 4 of their last 5 games (they’re 5-4-1 in their last 10, which is pretty good for the way their season has gone). Right now they’re showing signs of improving as a team, but we all fear that they’ll soon return back down to earth. The top 3 scoring lines have all been clicking well though, and the defense has looked a little more defensive and a little less lost with some better help from the forwards. So it remains to be seen if this team has turned a corner or not. The Blues were a pretty tough team to start the year, but have gone on a 4 game skid. They are 3-7-0 in their last 10, so it definitely should be a game the Oilers can win.
Btw, Khabi gets the start tonight. He of course had a shutout in the last game, and stood on his head. He actually looked like the MVP that Tambellini thought he was. Too bad he can’t do that on a consistent basis.
Prediction: 4-1 Oilers.

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers are coming off a loss to the Ducks and the Blues last played against the Kings on thursday taking the game 3-1. The Blues are in the same boat as the Ducks. That ferry boat heading over the ocean to an island for people to play golf on. They’re still not mathematically out, but it would take some luck for them to get in. They have struggled at home this year so this could be a close game today. It looks like Gagner will resting the hip again, so likely not much changes in the line up. Maybe that’s why no one is posting info about it anywhere. I for one will be disappointed to not see Mason’s playoff beard this year.

GDT - Edmonton Oilers vs. St. Louis Blues
PRE-GAME RANT
Going to keep this brief, as for one, there’s not much good to talk about these days. The Oilers are on a giant winless streak, and still looking for the first win of the new year. The Blues lost 3-2 to the Canucks last night. They are 6-3-1 in their last 10. For those that have wiped it from the memory banks, the last times the Oilers and Blues faced each other, the Blues won 7-2. So this could be another bad one.
Brain prediction: 5-3 Blues
Heart prediction: 4-1 Blues
Don’t think this will be the first win of the new year for the Oil.

Easy logo, I just half assed it...
PRE-GAME RANT
Right now would be a great time for the Oilers to make another run and get back into the mix as we currently are rocking the last spot in the conference, plus if the laffs get more points than the oilers I shall have to eat a whole lot of crow, and I don’t want that.
That said, I think we have played the Blues pretty well the last few years.

GDT - Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues
PRE-GAME RANT
The Oil head into St. Louis to take on the Blues in the final game of the 5-game road trip. So far the Oilers are 4-0 on this road trip. I don’t want to jinx anything, but there’s no way I’d expect them to finish this road trip undefeated. The Blues have won 3 of their last 4, including a win against the Wings, and shootout wins vs. the Sharks and the Kings.
This is a tough one for me to predict. As is my new tradition though, I’ll go with the heart/brain predictions again. So, the heart is predicting a 3-1 Oilers win. The brain is going to predict a rather boring, 2-0 win for the Blues. I have a tough time believing that the Oil can keep this streak alive. And quite frankly, even though I thought it has been a pretty soft road trip, a road trip is a road trip, and these guys are making it hard to want to tank for Taylor.
G’oil!
