PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers play the next two games on the road. Sometimes a road trip is good for ending a string of bad luck, sometimes its even worse for it. In this case, I think it will do the team some good as they already showed signs of recovery from the last game (and the rollercoaster ride continues). It was a 4-3 shootout loss vs. Phoenix, but the Oilers got off to a rare good start in the first period and held a 3-0 lead by mid-period 2. The Oil let the lead slip away though, and lost it in the shootout. Definitely not good, but there were a lot of strengths in this game. For one, our special teams were actually good. The first goal was by Hemsky, on the PK. The second goal was Continue reading 'GDT: Oilers 4, Ducks 2 – Game 19 – 2010-11-21 @ 6:00 PM – SNET'»

PRE-GAME RANT
Well here it is.. the final game of this bleak season. The Oilers won yesterday in Colorado in the shootout. They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 while the Ducks are 4-3-3. It would be good to see the Oilers end the season on a high note, and give us something to look forward to in the future. The Ducks have owned the series so far, however, taking all 3 previous games this year.
Prediction: 4-2 Ducks.

PRE-GAME RANT
Ducks… An outfit once owned and operated by some Mickey Mouse operation. Sound familiar? The Ducks have lost Getzlaf with the same ankle issue that nearly clipped his wings for an Olympic appearance and James ‘Forearm Shiver’ Wisniewski is still suspended. Down, but not out, yet with only 9 games remaining and trailing 8th by 11 points the Ducks will be dusting off the golf clubs around the same time as the boys in blue. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since the swapping of Lubo for Whitney, and with the Oil on a 3 game tear and not a care in the world, I’m pretty sure we can run our win streak up to 4 against the Mighty Quacks. Patty O has been cleared to play and Gagner left practice early, so maybe they’ll trade spots tonight. As for Petry making an appearance tonight, no word yet.

GDT - Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks
PRE-GAME RANT
Well first off, Happy Valentine’s Day to all you non-single folks. Today is an earlier game, with a 5:00PM start. It’ll be on PPV and I may end up missing this one. The Oilers are fresh off a pretty exciting shootout win vs. the Kings, after a pretty bleak road trip. The Ducks are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Calgary yesterday, but have won 5 of their last 7 games, however. These two teams met on the Oilers recent road trip, with the Ducks winning it by a score of 3-2. I only caught part of the 3rd period for this game last time around, so I’m not too sure how close the score really was. However, tonight I’ll pick a win.
Prediction: 4-3 Oilers

GDT - Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks
PRE-GAME RANT
So a couple of teams to another step forward in the standings, with the Canes and Islanders both winning. Edmonton currently sits 7 points behind Toronto, 9 behind Carolina and 14 behind the Islanders. The Oilers are 3 for 3 on the road so far… I mean, 3 losses in 3 games, including a 6-1 pounding at the hands of the Coyotes on Monday, seemingly returning to their January mentality. In fairness, they did face a pretty hot goaltender in Bryzgalov on Monday. The Ducks have had a bit better luck lately, having won 4 of their last 5. The odds just keep worse and worse by the game for the Oilers.
Let’s go with another loss tonight… maybe let’s just assume a loss until (at the very least) we finally trade one or more of our supposed checking line. 5-3 Ducks.
I’m pretty certain Dubnyk will get one of the next two starts… I’ll go so far as to guess he starts tonight.
