Just had to point out the HUGE 4 game from Brandon Kozun to surpass Jordan Eberle in the scoring race in the WHL the other night…Im still dumbfounded that LA stole this kid at 179th overall…
Calgary owns the hitmen and wont even give him a 3rd of 4th round pick… I need a new team to cheer for

hehe…that’s awesome, but he did have 7 more games played to do it.

but yeah…great pick by the kings, I see he actually had more points last year too so it’s not like he’s a one season wonder either, I’m guessing he was passed over by so many teams(not just the Flamers)to drop to the 6th round is because he is tiny by NHL standards(5’8 155lbs)

    *slits wrists*

Couldn’t log into the yahoo pool from work. Had no one dressed tonight. I missed out on:

    Huselius 4 point night.
    Clarkson 2 point night.
Rask 0GAA and 1.000 sv% (although not a shut out.. must’ve came in late in the game)

    Soooo choked.

I don’t know if I would consider it a steal there DropIt, considering the size of our league I don’t think Kozun will go that far. 5″ and 25lbs could have considerably raised his value in the draft but coming in under 170lbs and 5’7″ his future in the NHL looks bleak. It’s possible but it’s looking like this could be brightest part of his hockey career. He has talent no doubt about that but it’s going to be an incredible up-hill climb if he’s to survive/produce in the big leagues.

  4. By Racki, March 15, 2010 @ 11:48 pm  (Quote)

Looks like he’s 5’9, but for sure that’s why his stock is/was so low. Just like our own Toni Rajala.

  5. By zackman35, March 15, 2010 @ 11:58 pm  (Quote)

Hmmm, not postivie on his height, HF says 5’7, on the Kings site it says 5’8, and on the HDB 5’9. Either way he’s pretty small, it’s possible for a career but he better enjoy the point production now.

Yeah, you fuckers and you’re fact checking…

lol, I saw the 3 discrepancies in his height and was going to say something about it in my post but got lazy and just went with the middle one, and also the fact the Kings NHL site listed him at 5’8.

And yeah Racki, funny how you brought up Rajala as I was going to draw the same correlation and got lazy(again)…plus when I was looking up his height I found he was listed as 5’9/5’10 which is still small, but not as small as I thought, for some reason I thought Rajala was like 5’7 or 5’8. Which I find rather exciting actually that he is bigger than I thought, the kid just oozes offensive talent, and he is Parise/St.Louis-ish in size.

lastly Racki…that SUCKS about your roster, in the spirit of fair play, I hate to see that happen almost as much as I hate when I forget myself.

  8. By Racki, March 16, 2010 @ 7:49 am  (Quote)

Yah, I guess it pays to do your lineup way ahead of schedule. Our work is kind of a pain that way.. sometimes you can get in, sometimes you can’t. At least Noob had a slow night.

And yah, I thought Rajala was smaller than 5’10″. I think these are their heights in NHL feet/inches though. Probably measured with skates on :P

Well, it didn’t take long for a new headhunting incident to take the forefront. This one was definitely intentional. Not quite of the same nature as the Richards or Cooke hits. Seabrook hit Perry behind the goal line fairly cleanly, I’d say, but Wisniewski clearly took exception. Well after Seabrook moved the puck later on the shift, Wisniewski came flying in (charging) arms up into the face of Seabrook (forearm, a bit of elbow to the face). Seabrook wasn’t really looking at him (nor did he have the puck.. he gave it up several seconds before) and had his back to the boards. He went down in a heap, clearly losing consciousness (or at least his legs) briefly.

It was a late and dirty hit. Let’s put it this way, Duncan Keith had already moved the puck before Seabrook was even hit.. that’s how late it was. In fact, Seabrook never even had control of the puck.. the puck actually bounced off his skate to Keith. Wisniewski only received a 2 minute penalty on the play. Keith fought him right after though. I didn’t see the replay on the fight though, so not sure how that went.

But yah. Not a good hit at all. I think a suspension is in order on this one.

  16. By Racki, March 17, 2010 @ 11:24 pm  (Quote)

Actually found the video of the hit.. and the fight, although you don’t see the fight:

I love how the stupid commentator says “is Seabrook selling this?” Uhh.. yah bud. He’s selling it. He’s fucking out, you douche bag. Perry sold his hit (it wasn’t bad at all, and well, it’s what he does). Seabrook’s didn’t need selling at all.

On the Tracey topic, welcome to Putting On The Foil! If you are either of the Stoll or Tommy G fan girls, I’m glad to see you here. One was pretty artistic and the other was pretty smart from what I remember. Both however seemed to have a good taste in “hockey smarts”.

On the hit video, two things:
    i) Glad to see Seabrook is okay but leave it to those american’ts announcing the game (no offense B.O. but there is a definite difference between a CBC/TSN/Sportsnet feed and an american feed (NBC/TSN versus-I think).

ii)What’s up with the Travel Alberta advertisement clearly displayed on the boards? :P

  18. By Racki, March 17, 2010 @ 11:51 pm  (Quote)

Good eye on the advertisement. I remember hearing about that a while back.. but here is the article. The Ducks partnered up with Travel Alberta for some crazy reason: http://ducks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=44423

I don’t know much about the redline report, but they posted some draft rankings:

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/columnist/woodlief/2010-03-17-lower-league-prospects_N.htm

Interesting to note was this comment:

Cam Fowler (Windsor) — Skates and passes like a pro. Shoots and bodychecks like a pee-wee.

True? I don’t know. I can say I wasn’t blown away by anything Fowler did at the WJHC. The guy that impressed me most out of any undrafted player though was Nino Nintendoraider (thus why I gush about him like Pierre McGuire). Interesting how RLR has him as #4 on their list. On his resumé, the writer is a former scout for Nashville.. so that’s at least a good sign he knows what he’s talking about.

  21. By zackman35, March 18, 2010 @ 2:13 pm  (Quote)

Nintendorider would be awesome to draft, I like his size too but I doubt we’ll be able to snag him.

On another note I think we may be able to pick up a large defensemen easily in the second round or maybe even in the third (which would be optimal). His name is Alex Petrovic, 6’4″ currently weighing in just over 190lbs. My guess is that he goes middle of the second round but his stock may increase depending on how far the Rebels make it this post-season.

I’ve been to about four games this year, during the last game he got a goal or an assist (no relevance). However I’ve kept an eye on him and his defensive game has jumped up quite a bit not to mention hes racked up 8G and 19A this season and he’s not afraid to make a big hit/drop the gloves either.

Classic case of why the league needs to do away with the instigator penalty.

According to ESPN Wisniewski will be receiving an 8 game suspension for that hit on Seabrook.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/news/story?id=5005504
Look at this quote from Wisniewsky:

“It probably will get looked at, but the result wasn’t because of a shot to the head,” he said. “I’m 5-foot-11 and he’s 6-3. What happened was that my face hit his face. The visor came down and cut up my nose. I was shocked when I saw the result of it on the replay.

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Wisniewski added. “The result of what happened isn’t good, but there wasn’t anything wrong that I did.”

???? Wrong Wrong Wrong. 1) it was a charge 2) you left your feet & 3 the puck was nowhere close to Seabrook. If he cant own up to an obvious attempt to injure then they should just suspend him until next season.

  24. By Racki, March 18, 2010 @ 4:01 pm  (Quote)

yah no kidding, MetalOil. It was wrong on many levels.

  25. By NorwegianOiler, March 18, 2010 @ 4:45 pm  (Quote)

Either Wisnewski is bullshitting everybody, or he actually obsorbed the hit himself, causing his squash to be rattled with such ferocity that he no longer adheres to the reality as we know it.

It’s cool to be competitive and all, and many things happen in the heat of the moment, but in hindsight it shouldn’t be that hard to see that it was an atrocious attempt to injure, with all the helpings of charging, interference and what have you. Let’s hope that he never gets jury duty…

  26. By Racki, March 18, 2010 @ 5:14 pm  (Quote)

The commentators make me want to punch someone. Seriously, first off, the hit on Perry “that’s a high hit.. that’s a hit to the head” (or whatever the exact words). Homer much? It wasn’t dirty at all. Perry turned away from it, and Perry tried to sell it. That’s all that was. Apparently Wisniewski was the only one on the ice that bought it. And even if it was a bit of an on the edge hit, Wisniewski’s hit was so completely blatant that even his own mother would call it dirty.

  27. By MetalOil, March 18, 2010 @ 5:24 pm  (Quote)

I just can’t believe he had the balls to say he did nothing wrong. Like NO said he must be feeling the affects of that hit himself. I find it funny too the Wisniewski also said that he sent Seabrook who he calls a friend of his( I guess they used to live together for a bit) A text message to apologize. If you did nothing wrong then why are you apologizing?

Chara just fought Rupp. I really wish that Boston would get rid of those black jerseys and wear their winter classic threads.

A funny note, the announcers just called Crosby Croz Berry. He corrected himself and now has poked fun at it even.

I wish the refs didn’t step in as early. I would have liked to see Cooke get his due.

Hey Gang, can I come play here? I missed you all on the OMB…

As for the Cooke/Thornton fight, that was awesome. I’m usually ok when a guy goes down, the other fighter stops laying punches, but in this instance, I thought it was great that Thornton tried to pick Cooke back up to keep feeding him.

LOL – no bad blood there whatsoever…

  34. By Racki, March 19, 2010 @ 1:16 pm  (Quote)

Yah, Cooke went down too early!

And welcome!! Good to see ya here

  35. By Ktown, March 19, 2010 @ 1:24 pm  (Quote)

In fairness, at least Cooke was willing to drop the gloves and go. First shift, got called out and dropped ‘em.

He went down pretty quick, but it looks like he took some pretty clean shots to the chin in that one. I’ll give him props for going and not turtling like Claude Lemieux used to.

Of course, I still think he should have been sitting on a suspension rather than playing, but that’s just my opinion.

  36. By Racki, March 19, 2010 @ 1:30 pm  (Quote)

I think that’s the pretty popular opinion ;) The NHL screwed that up.

Yep !!! I do think he might have touched it last though(Hard to tell with the feeds picture quality. I am not even sure if the AHL bothers changing the credit of goals. I was watching the game last night and there was a shot that ether hit the Post or inside of the net and I learned that there is no Video replay in the AHL. They asked the goal judge and ruled it no goal so I do not think they would even bother changing credit to a goal ether.
