Omark, or Nomark?

From one of the other many times Hemsky was hurt..

Today Tom Renney announced that he thinks Ales Hemsky might be out for as long as a month. If you figure him out for at least a month, that’s at least a dozen games of action for one of our prospects in Oklahoma City.

Do we do it? Oklahoma City is currently sitting at 4th in the Western Conference, and just a shade out of 3rd. Omark is currently the leading scorer in Oklahoma with 26 points in 25 games (13 goals, 13 assists, +6). Omark is 8th overall in scoring in the AHL, and just 4 points behind the current leader (Andrew Gordon of Hershey and Dustin Jeffrey of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton). Reddox is another logical choice with 13 goals and 10 assists in as many games, and a +11 rating. But the question is… should they do it, and if so, who? Continue reading 'Omark, or Nomark?'»

Monday Morning Standings

Happy Wednesday!  And now, for the Monday Morning Standings…

The Weak in Oil

Well the week wasn’t totally weak with a win in Anaheim, but that was about the only highlight.  Small improvements over the previous week in the GAA stat, but I don’t think that’s any indicator of a defensive recovery with the number of shots that have been sent Dubnyk’s way.  Belle has been reassigned so that Smid can return to the lineup.

And the winner of the backup is….

Not you... but nice save, Jeff

Not you... but nice save, Jeff

The Oilers have made their goaltending decision, at last…. Jeff Deslauriers has been placed on waivers. I think they made the right choice. I kind of figured that was what happened when Delsauriers was said to be not at practice today. MacIntyre and Whitney also absent.. hmm…….. some sort of deal in the works? Nah, just trying to scare you folks (Whitney is taking a “rest day” – which I’d say he needed). I wonder if a callup will be made though. Jacques will be back in a couple of weeks (apparently), so they could be making room for him, but I’ll suspect that they’ll bring someone up in the meantime. If waivers are no issue, I hope it’s Belle or Reddox.

Oklahoma City Barons on CBC

Just a reminder this game is on… starting up a thread in case anyone wants to talk about it. I’ll be watching it and taking some notes.

OKC Barons line-up (best as I can figure – wingers/center might be swapped around, but I think I got who is playing with whom): Continue reading 'Oklahoma City Barons 3, Hamilton Bulldogs 2 (OT) – 11AM MST on NHL Network / CBC'»

Gerber / Souray placed on waivers, more cuts announced, and my thoughts on final cuts

By , September 30, 2010 11:27 am

Sheldon Souray has been placed back on waivers, according to John Shannon. According to Shannon’s source: “Gerber will go after he clears, Souray can be assigned if he clears”. Translation: “Gerber will be assigned to Oklahoma City if Minnesota doesn’t want him. Souray will likely be recalled eventually, but we don’t want any of you GMs to know that yet, in case your stupid enough to claim him on regular waivers.”

Also the Oilers have assigned Taylor Chorney, Colin McDonald, Alex Plante and Jeff Petry to the Oklahoma City Barons.

That leaves the Oilers with the following:
