PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers tackle their 3rd game in a span of 4 days tonight at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. It’s been a rough road trip for the team winning only 1 of 5 thus far, but with 2 games left they can still salvage it. They’ll be in tough against the Blues though who have responded well to the bench boss hiring of Ken Hitchcock.
The Oilers have looked much improved the last few games, but took a big hit with the loss of the Nuge for an undetermined amount of time 3-4 weeks with a left shoulder injury. Gilbert also got a rough ride from Carcillo, but being the tough bastard that he is, he took the morning skate but left early. He’s listed as day to day and will sit out for tonight’s game.
Also happening today is the World Juniors Gold Medal game!!! Read more »

PRE-GAME RANT
Oh boy, two teams headed in different directions. Hawks are 8-2 in the last 10, and the Oil are the opposite… Time to turn things around. Well, that would have been 4 or 5 games ago, so we’re far passed time to turn it around. Game 3 of the season that these two teams face off, with the Oilers winning the last contest a lopsided 9-2. Hopefully there are no hard feelings.
Dubnyk slots in tonight and Teemu Hartikainen has been recalled with Petrell going down to make room for the move. I really liked what I saw from Teemu last year. Hopefully he injects some enthusiasm into the line up that will kick start this young squad back to the right side of winning. Jones has skated with the team as well after leaving late after a blocked shot in the Isles game.

PRE-GAME RANT
Just realized Racki is soaking up the sun on a beach in Mexico and likely consuming a Corona or dos…
Quick thread creation here before my little one notices I’m on the laptop.
Oilers are struggling of late, but happily so are the Wild. The Wild are 2-5-3 in their last 10 while the Oilers have won 3 on their skid. Someone gets to go home happy tonight! This is the 6th and final matchup of the season and the Oilers need a win to get the spilt, although they have taken points in their losses as well, so expect another close one.
Whitney is still hurting and the sinus infected Hemsky is a game time decision. Khabibulin gets the start and lineups will likely look pretty similar to the Canuck’s game.

PRE-GAME RANT
Who’s in LA, has 2 thumbs and is excited about seeing the Oilers play? Not this guy, but the Oilers have been tweeting incessantly about Kevin Smith lately. Maybe we’ll see Mean Gene get the Silent Bob treatment.
The kid line, aka diaper snipers, are pretty excited about being in LA too. Sounds like they don’t get much time to travel in junior. Hopefully they act like they own the place instead of appearing to be lost tourists. This is the first of 4 against the Kings this season, and yet another team that swept the series last season. I predict a lot less of that this year, but the Kings will be a solid test for the upstart Oilers that have so far this year turned things around pretty much 360. This will also be Ryan Smyth’s first visit back to LA since the trade and another King has been recalled. Teubert will draw in tonight as Plante has been re-assigned to OKC(Thanks Shauna!).

PRE-GAME RANT
After a brief road trip to the mile high city, the Oilers are back home again. The Oilers have enjoyed home ice so far this season and another win would go a long way. They could use the continuation of the win streak to further build momentum before going on the road for 6 games.
After handing the reins to Khabi early on, Dubnyk slotted in Friday night and had an impressive 40 save performance in the win. Hopefully the two can continue to make the starter role a tough decision for management with their solid play.
The Blues are playing .500 hockey right now and are struggling on the powerplay. Combined with the Oilers current success on the P/K, I’d say we have a pretty solid chance of recording another win tonight.
Alex Plante has been recalled from OKC, and should be in town with plenty of time to slot in tonight since the goon Sutton is out of the lineup.
Will post lines when something is made public, but don’t expect too much shuffling with lines that are clicking.
