PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers are coming off back to backs winning the first in OT and losing the latter in a character building shootout loss. Much better than the drubbing they took from the Sharks in the home opener.
The Avs are still hurting, missing both Landeskog and Jones from the frontlines. Even down those 2 the Avs found a way to get the offence going in their last game against our Southern rivals the Flames. This game may be a little closer than the first meeting of the season.
Fistric stays in and Potter rides the pine. Horcoff has been greenlit for skating so the line-ups are still being hashed out. Top 2 lines are the only guarantees. That and Dubnyk is being ridden like a rented mule. He`s been up to the task so far, so not too worried there.

PRE-GAME RANT
I expect the Oilers to turn a new page in Phoenix tonight. They struggled last year going 0-3-1 against the desert dogs, but I’ve got feeling (oooh-hooo) tonight’s going to be a good night.
The Coyotes are still without their starter Mike Smith who was injured during their game against the Blue Jackets, so Jason LaBarbera and Chad Johnson are sharing duties between the pipes. Raffi Torres is out on suspension so he won’t be super-manning any of our young stars.
It’s still early, but our talented youth have our powerplay ranking 2nd in the league and the team speed is bound to draw a penatly or two tonight. Certainly won’t complain if the crew can start producing more 5 on 5, but that will come.
Pair the potent power play with Devan Dubnyk standing on his head and success isn’t too far fetched. Taylor Hall has registered a point every game thus far, and I apologize for jinxing him.
Oh and uh, welcome back Khabibulun…

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers tackle their 3rd game in a span of 4 days tonight at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. It’s been a rough road trip for the team winning only 1 of 5 thus far, but with 2 games left they can still salvage it. They’ll be in tough against the Blues though who have responded well to the bench boss hiring of Ken Hitchcock.
The Oilers have looked much improved the last few games, but took a big hit with the loss of the Nuge for an undetermined amount of time 3-4 weeks with a left shoulder injury. Gilbert also got a rough ride from Carcillo, but being the tough bastard that he is, he took the morning skate but left early. He’s listed as day to day and will sit out for tonight’s game.
Also happening today is the World Juniors Gold Medal game!!! Continue reading 'Oilers 3, Blues 4 – Game 40 – 2012-01-05 @ 6:00 PM MST – SNET OILERS'»
