Ducks: Randy Carlyle canned… Bruce Boudreau hired

Multiple twitter media types are reporting that Randy Carlyle has been fired as coach of the Ducks and Bruce Boudreau has been hired as replacement. At this point, I think that puts a stop to the Bobby Ryan rumors, for now. Have to give these guys all a chance under a new coaching strategy.

PRE-GAME RANT

Minnesota, again.. this month is silly. I’d like to see some different opponents! Anyways, I’ll be at this one tonight.

Andy Sutton will be in tonight, playing with Theo Peckham, which means that Colten Teubert sits. Ryan O’Marra will be in, in place of Anton Lander who suffered from some sort of infected cut, apparently.

Since I’m at this one with my buddy Tim, this one is guaranteed loss night. So please don’t watch, as you won’t enjoy it. We’ve been to great losses such as the 10-2 Sabres stomping, and the 9-1 ass kicking the Oilers received courtesy of Chicago.

Prediction: 2-1 Wild. (But I’m hoping for a win!)

Taylor Hall injury update… er.. updated.

Word from Gene Principe is that he’ll be out for 7-10 days with that shoulder injury. Not too bad, all things considered. But sometimes these things can be tough to assess too, so who knows.

UPDATE: Ok, now they’re saying 2-4 weeks. Well, poop. Damn it, Gene.

PRE-GAME RANT

Tonight the Oilers will take on the Nashville Predators. The Oilers have won both games this season. The last meeting (last Tuesday) was a fairly handy 6-2 victory in which they chased Pekka Rinne out of the net.

Taylor Hall will be absent from this one, after injuring his shoulder (twice) on Saturday vs. the Avalanche. He’ll have an MRI on it today. Ben Eager also seems to have hurt his back in practice. Not sure how serious it is. On a more positive note, it looks like Andy Sutton could return to the line up very soon.

Some good news for Paajarvi tonight.. he’ll finally stop being screwed in the line up and will play with Horcoff and Hemsky. He should get quite a few minutes tonight to try and strut his stuff. About time. Make the best of it, kid.

Off with their heads…

Two coaches were victims of firings today before many of us out west were even awake. The Washington Capitals have fired Bruce Boudreau, and the Carolina Hurricanes have axed Paul Maurice. Dale Hunter will take over coaching duties in Washington, while Kirk Muller will head things in Carolina. Maurice was the youngest coach in NHL history to coach 1000 NHL games. The Hurricanes, however, sit 2nd last in the NHL right now, after missing the playoffs two years in a row under Maurice. The Capitals are still in a good spot, but evidently are attempting to stop the bleeding before it gets too serious.
