PRE-GAME RANT

Oilers(3-1-1) are hosting the Jets(1-2-2) who have recently returned to the NHL, rising from the ashes of Atlanta like a Phoenix!  Which is where their previous team now resides…

Oilers have also trimmed the following from the roster:

Richard Bachman* (G) – Oklahoma City (AHL) aka Stephen King
Brad Hunt (D) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Jujhar Khaira (LW) – Everett (WHL)
Oscar Klefbom (D) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Martin Marincin (D) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Ryan Martindale (C) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Andrew Miller (C) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Ty Rimmer (G) – Oklahoma City (AHL)
Sam Gagner (G) – IR (Thanks Kassian…)

OKC might do well this year as some of these names did fairly well in camp.

Enough small talk, time for game talk.

The Jets took an early pre-season game 3-2 in the peg.  Oilers fought back in the last 5 to make it interesting but ultimately fell short.  They took it to the Canucks recently and scored early, so hopefully they stay on the same page and grab the lead first.  Makes the wins that much easier.  The monster in the closet MacIntyre was claimed off waivers today, but won’t be in the line up.  Looks like a number of bubble players are getting a look on both sides of the ice tonight, so more of a teaser of the future prospects than an actual look at the upcoming season.

OILERS PROJECTED LINES

Omark – Gordon – Yakupov
Joensuu – Arcobello – Pitlick
Jones – Lander – Hamilton
Eager – Acton – Brown

Ference – Belov
Smid – Larsen
N.Schultz – Fedun

  1. Racki says:

Arco and Lander definitely are getting tested tonight. With Gagner/Nuge out, they have a better opportunity than ever to make the lineup. I think Arco has the best chance.

However, looks like both will get dud linemates tonight.

  2. Trogdor says:

From what I read mac-T is sweet on Arco, so he’s been doing the right things so far.

  3. Racki says:

Arco looked OK tonight… Joenesu looked amazing. Guy has got good work ethic and size. Also surprising was Tyler Pitlick. He was all over the ice, busting ass. He showed he wants to make the team… although I don’t think he will.

I was also unexpectedly surprised by the Brown-Acton-Eager line. They did exactly what they needed to, plus even got a goal.
