If he managed to help take our abysmal powerplay to the top 3 (#1 for much of the year), that has to say something about his ability to think the game well and teach it. I know first thought might be "anyone could have taken these kids and had them scoring" though, but I think we've had some good stars in here before fail. It seems that he's finally been the guy to see past the "get it back to the point and stand in front of the net!" mentality that most of our powerplay coaches have had here. Guys are huge threats on the ice everywhere, and our skill forwards are being much better utilized. Players actually move around a lot more and give nightmares to the opposition's defense now.

At the very least, if he isn't coach, I hope he sticks around as an assistant, because I was pretty disappointed when the media was playing it up as though the Oil cut ties with him and didn't want him back in any fashion. Seemed like crazy talk.
