The league quietly fines officials when they make big mistakes. I am hoping the back official on this one gets fined. That was stupid (referring to calling a tripping penalty on Teubert when he was in no position to make that call).

Alan: Dustin Brown is a diving ho-bag. I’ve seen it a couple instances from Chris Letang as of recent as well too. Two high sticks nowhere near his face, and he goes down like he’s been shot, drawing the penalty. Referees should know better though. They do watch game tapes, and see these guys making suckers out of them. I know some refs will remember. But I’m surprised Brown still gets away with as much as he does.

HL: Agreed, I hope Renney doesn’t end up paying that fine. I love that he said it, and we all wanted to hear it!

The stats show that if there was a Greg Louganis award, Dustin Brown would have won it in 5 of the past 7 years. At the time of the article he had drawn 380 penalties since the lockout with the next closest being Alexander Ovechkin with 255

hmm…Sounds like we need a MacRenney Fine Fund. As a gesture of fan support.

Sometimes you have to shine a light on the zebras. The odd bad call you can chalk up to “they didn’t see it” or whatever, but when it’s a few and they’re blatant…gotta stand up for the team.

I’ve heard coaches say a lot worse, as far as criticism of officiating…didn’t think it was that bad. Unfortunately the audio cuts out right before Renney’s comment so you can’t hear the reporter’s question.
