It’s been a rather dull last few weeks, Oilers-wise at least. As for the hockey, it’s never been better. Pretty much every series has gone how I would like it (but not how I predicted it). Lots of excitement in every series (well, maybe not Florida/New Jersey…but I haven’t paid any attention to that one at all).
And the Oil Kings. Great hockey, the team is on a roll with 22 games in a row (and all 11 playoff games so far, except as I type that I am jinxing them as they are now down 3-0 in game 4).
Here is a good link re: prospects and signings coming up.
Other than that, not much has happened. Oh, the Oilers are stringing along Renney. But not surprised with this management group. I think they want to see who comes available after the playoffs but it kinda screws with Renney.
Playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. That’s all we really care about isn’t it?
- Flyers beat the Pens in 6
Fuck yeah. And how. Great games to watch.
- Kings beat the Canucks in 5
Even better. And now how fucked are the Canucks when it comes to Luongo? They can’t keep him. I imagine someone who has 10 years left on his 5.5 cap hit deal isn’t easy to move either. And he has a NTC so he can veto the shitty teams.
- St. Louis beats San Jose in 5
I’m never sad seeing the Sharks lose.
- Coyotes beat Chi-town in 6
I like both these teams, but I’m happy to see Phoenix win something. I hope the team stays there.
- Preds beat Detroit in 5
I like the Preds this year as well. And while I have nothing against Detroit, they win enough.
As I said, I like how pretty much every series has played out. So far. Of the 3 remaining, I’m hoping the Rangers, Caps (YESSSSSSSSS, just won in OT) and Panthers win. Which I’m sure goes against what my predictions were, but meh. In fact, looking at my predictions I got the Blues and Preds right. And I originally picked the Flyers but changed my mind. So yeah. I could still come out even, but I don’t really want to.
As for the next round, I’ll try to do another post once the series are set, otherwise I’ll just hop in the comments here.
Question of the Week
Do you think these playoffs have been rougher than years past? (Re: Suspensions, fights etc)
Fight of the Week
Polak kicking ass!
Just a reminder to those in the keeper pool to take a look and figure out your free agents etc.
Barons are up 3-1 in their series against the Houston Aeros (Edit: Apparently it’s only a best of 5, so they won the first round). So that’s good. Mark Arcobello leads the team in playoff scoring with 5 points in 4 games, and he sits 12th in league playoff scoring. He is followed by Keller and Pitlick who have 4 in 4 each. To no surprise, Danis is kicking ass in the playoffs.
As you can see, the Oil Kings have been kicking ass so far (except not looking good tonight boys). In fact, Racki and I have seen all of their playoff games so far and they look to be the class of the WHL. No other team has come close to beating them. The team just looks so complete, and filled with good players through all lines. And systems…the coaching has been outstanding. It helps that LB has played lights out too.
Anyways, Lazar(-BEAM!) leads the team (as a rookie!) with 15 points in 11 games, and sits 9th in league playoff scoring. Samuelsson is second in OK scoring with 12 points in 10 games (also a rookie!).
And LB is outstanding so far with a 1.74 GAA and a 939 sv%.
Unfortunately, both Wruck and Pelss are injured who happen to be 2 of the better offensive players.
