<strong><a href="#comment-44891" rel="nofollow">gr8one</a></strong>:
Speaking of the Oil Kings…

Racki, if this has been covered somewhere else here, I apologize, I know you had said a bit ago that Reinhart hadn’t jumped out at you much but that Pysyk seemed to be quite impactful, but my question now is how has Gernat looked??

I know Pysyk has been pretty highly touted and has WJHC pedigree etc, etc, and we all know about Reinharts’ upcoming draft status, so looking at the Oil Kings team stats I was kind of surprised to see how much separation there was between Gernat’s points(and +/-) compared to the others, he put up almost 20 more points than both of them and was a +41…I mean wow, awesome!!

With those numbers I’m guessing it’s safe to say he gets ample PP time and softer minutes than the other two, but what’s your overall impression of him?

</blockquote>

I'm definitely no scout, when it comes to live games. I find it hard (oddly) to pay close attention to individual players at the games. However, I've tried to noticed Gernat as much as I can. I think you're right about the "cherry" minutes. I'm not certain, but it looks to me like he's on the 2nd pairing there. Keegan Lowe and Mark Pysyk undoubtedly make up the first pairing, and I believe Gernat and Cody Corbett are the 2nd pairing, and Griffen Reinhart and Ashton Sautner make the 3rd pairing.

From what I see of Gernat, he seems to be a very good powerplay quarterback. He's good at moving the puck and has a decent shot too. He's also decent at laying the body. I've seen a few nice hits by him, but my fave has to be one that they throw up on the big screen all the time of him laying a beauty hip check on a guy.

All in all, I'd say he'll be a good addition for us, but it's also too hard to judge him too much. I haven't found either him or Reinhart to really stand out much at all. Mark Pysyk is head and shoulders above both of those guys, but then again he's 1 year older than Gernat, and got 2 years on Reinhart. I'm trying to pay as much attention to Gernat as I can though, as well as Reinhart since there is a minimal chance (I doubt it, myself) we could draft him. I don't see much of Gernat in the defensive zone (mainly because I only see our defensive zone close enough for one period) or out on the PK though (at least, not that I've noticed). So the rumor of him being offense only could be true.

I will also comment on another player that gets little attention.. Kristians Pelss. He scored 2 tonight and seems to be a guy that should garner a bit more attention from fans than he does. He's got decent skill and is pretty gritty for his size. He also plays the PK too. But at the same time, I know the guys at HF aren't too keen on him, so who knows.

In other news, a name to watch in next year's draft could be Curtis Lazar. He's played fantastically in the playoffs so far. And well.. his name is fucking awesome. Does anything else really matter?

Well I only caught a few pieces of the game here and there but from what I saw Duby had some stellar saves albeit the final score.

I'm getting tired of the whole not making the playoffs, the draft pick should be another great addition but I hope we can be competing sooner than later. It's getting close, real close.
