PRE-GAME RANT

I’ll be at this one, reppin’ the home team. I expect there to be a lot of annoying Habs fans at this one. And to be honest, they’re my second fave team, so I’ve had my share of being an annoying Habs fan. However, those days of really, truly cheering for the Habs are long behind me. I’m all about the Oilers now, and I hope they smoke the Habs.

Anywho, tonight we will probably see more of Linus Omark. Sounds like he’ll get 2nd PP unit duties. Mind you, our powerplay hasn’t been given a lot of opportunity by refs these days, so that will remain to be seen.

Khabi gets the start in net tonight for the Oilers. Budaj is between the pipes for the Habs. That should be a good thing, but back up goaltenders generally play like Ken Dryden vs. us, so we’ll see. And I seem to recall Carey Price having a bad performance or two vs. us over his short career. Darcy Hordichuk is in, Ben Eager is out (flu).

No word on lines, so my lines below are a complete guess.

OILERS LINES (per Gene Principe)

Hall-Gagner-Hemsky
Smyth-RNH-Eberle
Omark-Horcoff-Jones
Hordichuk-Belanger-Petrell

Smid-Petry
Whitney-Potter
Peckham-Schultz

Khabibulin
Dubnyk

Khabibulin with the start, what happened to win and your in? Omark to see power play time tonight on the second unit.

I am glad to see some of my young guns getting time and doing well on the Habs. Eller, Desharais and now Geoffrion. I am hoping Linus has a good showing. I feel he won’t re-sign now that Hemsky is here though. Still, I like the kid and hope he does well.

Should be a fast game. Good one to go to for sure. Have fun!

  3. Racki says:

Yah Habs games are generally fun to see, especially since (According to some twitter stats guru.. perhaps Stauffer, even), the Habs haven’t won here since 2000.

I like seeing the the young guys keep putting up the points, it’d be really nice to see Hall reach 30G and RNH 20G by the end of the season. I can’t believe how deadly we are on the PP this year. With that being said, Montreal and Columbus both winning it’s really solidifying are top two overall pick this year. I Columbus goes on a W streak of any sorts it could make things real interesting down the stretch.

  5. Racki says:

Yah, really we aren’t THAT far ahead of Columbus, at all. And it looked like we were way ahead not all that long ago. They’ve narrowed the gap.

Honestly, I don’t want to see that all. Another 30th place finish would be pathetic and inexcusable. Really the same can be said about 29th. This team needs to climb its way up the standings any way it can.
