PRE-GAME RANT

I’ve got a small bet on this one that the Oilers will win this game. It is a really small bet, but it’s for bragging rights, really, which is a BIG deal. I sure as hell hope the Oilers can pull this off. They’re generally better against the good teams. With Jimmy Howard out with a broken finger, the Oilers might stand more of a chance too, although backups often kill us, as do former Oilers… so former Oiler backups can’t be good to face… Conklin should play tonight too.

The Nuge returns to action tonight. He apparently will center Horcoff and Hemsky, per Gene Principe.

Dubnyk starts again tonight, as per Renney’s “win and your in” strategy.

   This was a pretty great game to watch. Nervous in that 3rd period though. I had a bet riding on this, but it was the bragging rights that made me not want to see a loss here.

   Gagner continues his awesomeness and now holds an Oilers record for a point on 11 consecutive goals.

   I have to really question why Belanger was in the shootout. Marc Crawford move. The guy has 2 goals on the season, and one of them Paajarvi put in off him, basically. He’s 1 for 9 career in the shootout. Very strange decision.

   But oh well. We got the win.. no sense complaining. I’m still a fan of Renney, just thought that was really oddball.
