I have to say the condescending English headline in the otherwise French Gazette about Cunneyworth was over the top. Okay, you’re pissed, we get it.
I happen to be bilingual so I have a definite appreciation for the language and understand that it can be frustrating not having their mother tongue respected or rather, represented. But it comes down to this: do you want a francophone, or do you want to win? Because if you care more about having the option to listen to a press conference in your original language than having the coach proudly speak about another win, be it in French, English or Swahili, that’s insane. I’m not saying Cunneyworth is necessarily the guy to get the Habs back on track, and management basically announced that he’s not staying long term, in a pretty lame way if you ask me. But you can’t lambast the guy for being an English speaker. If the choice though for a long-term coach is between Marc Crawford, say, and Patrick Roy, gotta go with Crawford anytime. Crawford learned French anyway, so there… there you go. Oh wait, not satisfied?? Give us Guy Boucher or give us death? ….bah, whatever, it’s your funeral.

It is not a good year for Chucker in the pools. Desperation is starting to creep in.
