PRE-GAME RANT

The Oilers are fresh off their best win in recent years, with a 9-2 victory over the Blackhawks. I don’t think anyone saw that coming. I can’t see them following that up tonight, but hopefully they can at least make a game of it. This team IS good and has some superb offensive weapons. They just needed a blowout like that to get some confidence back. A hattrick for Taylor Hall hopefully opens up the floodgates for him – that was much needed.

One guy that didn’t score a point at all that night was Magnus Paajarvi. His struggles continue. It’s upsetting because I know he’s in the quicksand right now. Nothing he does seems to improve things for him. The chances have been there at times. I think he’ll get it, but I hate seeing players struggle.. for their sake. Anyways, he will sit out again tonight. It might be worth considering sending him to Oklahoma City for a bit to find some confidence. Ben Eager will also sit. Replacing these two will be Lennart Petrell and Darcy Hordichuk. Hordichuk hasn’t won over everyone, I know, but before he was hurt many fans here were loving him. So I hope he can get back to that form again.

Khabibulin gets the start again tonight. It seems that he is our official starter from here on out, until he slips long term.

I’ll be missing this one tonight, unfortunately, but I’ll PVR it. Hoping that it’s a good one.

Prediction 4-3 Stars

Looks like Hordichuk draws in tonight with Eager sitting. I’d would have liked both to play against Dallas tonight.

    Some quotes from today:
Jordan Eberle: “Hordichuk told me today CBC was supposed to cover his return tonight but then Crosby stole his thunder.”

Sheldon Souray: “Horcoff is maybe the most professional guy I’ve ever played with. With culture they’re breeding there, he’s the perfect guy.”

I still hate that Souray’s rep was completely trashed here upon his wanting out. I think there’s more to it, as his leadership was once highly revered here, and he was a candidate for captaincy.. then next thing you know, he’s an immature ruhtard.

Ryan Whitney: “Any idea on when Crosby is coming back? @TSNBobMcKenzie @DarrenDreger @GMillerTSN @FriedgeHNIC”

    lol

I have this impending sense of another Hall outbreak tonight! It may only be in a short time period but historically when Hall gets going, boy does he ever. He will be leading the team in points by December

I don’t even see why ppl were getting down on him. Even when he ain’t playing his best and potting goals he is creating a ton of room for his linemates. Teams are just targeting Hall more this year and it took him a lil bit of time to adjust. Now that he has broken out…… Watch Out!!!!!!!!

  4. Racki says:

I tend to ignore the negativity now, but I never actually noticed people were getting on Hall already. Although I did have one idiot sit behind me at a game and knock his big lips all night. lol The guy was a huge dumbass though.

  5. Alan-NottsUK says:

crosby scores his 1st goal on his first shot in his 3rd shift back.

and now has an assist and another one

4 pts for Crosby. Really nice goals. Possibly my favorite moment was after the first goal, Sydney’s exclamation. You don’t have to be a lip reader to figure out what he’s saying… (sorry, the vids I’ve seen on youtube are reverse angle so you can’t see what he says…just watch it on sportscentre). I’m so glad to see the Kid back and in such fine form.

Um, quick question, why the eff are we playing 4 games in 3 days, with another back-to-back later in the week? Just don’t see how that’s going to work out well.
