PRE-GAME RANT

The plus is that the Oilers took both games at United Center last year. The negative is that the Blackhawks won the last two games between these teams (and quite handily – 4-1 and 5-0). The Oilers are having a rough go with this road trip as is too, although they are 2-3-0, at least. A win tonight will break this road trip even, which is all you can really ask for a team.

In some sad news today, Kyle Fundytus, an Edmonton teeanger, died today from injuries suffered from a game at Clareview arena yesterday. He was struck in the neck by the puck and had undergone surgery. Condolences to his friends and family.

Prediction: 4-1 Edmonton.. in hopes we break even on this road trip!

   Terrible news about Kyle. Same age as my son, too. You love watching your kids play and cheer for their successes as they get through the ranks and and perhaps increase their levels to and throughout competitive hockey, but when they start blocking shots and stuff, you just hold your breath. Thoughts & prayers are with his family.

   Hoping for a bounce back game tonight! Go Oil!

   Yah that’s a pretty bad tragedy. I can’t imagine being a hockey parent watching even some of the fun injuries I had in my playing years, nevermind watching your kid take a puck in the throat.

   Got hurt a ton in my hockey, football, rugby, and soccer days. Thankfully never witnessed anything as tragic as what occurred to Kyle. Condolences to the family. Sad and tragic to hear as a parent.
