BTW, I’d prefer no-touch over hybrid icing, even. It takes 100% of the guess work out. As Bruce Boudreau pointed out, the game is so fast that it’s hard to ensure that these guys slow down in time if you’re making that call at the faceoff dot, for example. I’d rather remove all doubt and just go with the no-touch. I know touch icing is one thing that has added some excitement to the game (and I’m not talking about the injuries). But i can look for excitement elsewhere. Is junior hockey still not pretty damn exciting? I’d say the World Junior championships is the most exciting tournament in all of hockey. They seem to keep it pretty exciting with no-touch.

I agree USA Oiler. I think this is a b.s. reason to keep icing in anyways. I don’t go to NHL games because I hope to see a good icing race. Icing in general is boring.

Of all the exciting things in hockey I don’t know why people think the race for icing is exciting, I always cringe when I see one happining so I really hope they implement the hybrid rule.
