PRE-GAME RANT

Ryan Whitney returrnnnnnns. It feels like eons since he’s played a game, and I’m sure it’s even worse for him.

The Oilers are coming off a narrow 3-1 win against the Predators. They’re a tough team to score on. The Oilers really dominated the flow of the game. So I’m kind of hoping that they’ll keep that going for tonight’s game and hand the Flames their asses…

Prediction: 5-2 Oilers

Peckham is a healthy scratch again tonight, but great news that Whitney makes his triumphant return. Hall also is battling the flu and may miss tonight’s game. He apparently was a game time decision for yesterday’s game too, by the sounds of it.

  2. NorwegianOiler says:

I wonder if Renney will keep Gilbert and Smid together, they had a very good game against Nashville.

Good timing to get Whitney back, if his outlet passes are up to par, because we’re likely going to face a much better forecheck than last night.

It’s time for Pääjärvi to score his first of the season.

  3. Racki says:

Oops, the lines I have above aren’t guesstimated.. those are the correct lines according to Tencer. Whitney and Gilbert back together… wasn’t much of a fan of that combo, to be honest.

Oilersnation and Flamesnation have linked their live game chat for tonight. That might be the Battle of Alberta Nation?

Going to the game tonight, will do my best to represent! If the Oilers can play as well against the Flamers as they did last night then they will win but I’m a little less confident if Hall is out :/ Will be nice to see Whitney back on the ice, just hope they break him in slowly & only play him for 12-15 min so he doesn’t end up being a detriment instead of a help. Also looking forward to watching RNH, Petrell, & Eager live :)

  6. Alan-NottsUK says:

Hall is out, according to Tencer he wasn’t on the team bus to the rink

  7. Racki says:

Yah I figured he’d miss this one. Oh well. I wonder what our lines will look like now..

  8. Ktown says:

Wow. Did they ever look tired. Decent enough game given it was 3 in 4 days, but just no energy to really take this one over.

Whitney looked slow – again first game back. The kids were just beaten up, but I think that speaks some to the effect Hall has when he’s playing. He’s so quick and dangerous you have to key in him which leaves a lot of room for Ebs and RNH. Omark is good, but he’s no Hall which left the flames space to take out E&R.

Kudos to Corey Potter though. Solid game. And Gibby looks like he actually wants to play hockey so far.

Oh well. Home for some rest and Minny on Thurs.

  9. Racki says:

Yah those were exactly my thoughts too, Ktown.

  10. john says:

Brutal, nothing like sitting through 2 1/2 periods of shit awful hockey in the enemies barn only to lose it all in the last 7 min :( Whitney wasn’t as bad as I was worried he might be, Horcoff had another strong game, Petrell had some really good shifts & was one of the only Oilers throwing checks. Couldn’t figure out why Eager & Leblond got 10 min misconducts; they didn’t even throw punches!!

  11. Racki says:

Yah the 10 minute misconducts were pretty lame.

5 for fighting, 10 for not … WTF?
