GDT – Oilers YS 2 – Jets YS 0 – @ 8:30 PM MST

One of the great Jets of yore.

One of the great Jets of yore.

Holy shit it’s the Jets. That’s all I have to say.

OK… not really..

This one will be “televised” on the web on the Oilers homepage. I really wish that we could have seen this one on TV, as I’d love to see the Jets jerseys in full HD.

This will be our first good look of Bunz in net this year. I’m anxious to see how he does. The Nuge will line up with Hamilton and Pelss again, a line which showed chemistry already. Pitlick is also being slotted at center for this one… another move I’m interested in. Rajala… according to the Oilers Twitter’s lineup tweet he was supposed to be in the last game, however never saw him, and the stat sheet backs that up. Would like to see him tonight. He’s a guy I consider a very movable cog. Talented, but small and perhaps a redundant piece here. He seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth after playing a year in the WHL… last year he played back in the Finnish league SM-liiga.

On D we have a bunch of people that have garnered little press-hype.. and by little I mean zero. Although Fedun and Gernat had a pretty strong outing last game.

I predict a much lower score for this one.. that is all…

Here are the lines:

Hamilton – Nugent Hopkins – Pelss
Ferguson – Pitlick – Reider
Czerwonka – Smith – Rajala
Tyrvainen – Schaber – Abney

Davidson – Blain
Vannieuwenhuizen (known as V16 from here on) – Lowery
Gernat – Fedun

    Nice, Oil up 1-0!

Nice hands on Martindale driving the net on the goal, like the hit as well. Hoppy with the slick pass as well on the PP. All in all a decent period. I quite like the new silks on the Jets as well, they’ll look better in navy.

Bunz had this game in the bag (I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere). Hell of a performance. I know it’s just against other young kids, but I was pretty impressed and can’t believe he’s only 19. I think he’ll be a great goalie for us in the future. The net looks lousy now, folks.. but in 3 or 4 years it could be promising.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bunz does against men in preseason action.
