Nothing like a nice throwback picture for a GDT, eh? The Oilers and Flyers sure had some kick ass playoff games vs. each other back in the 80s.

The Flyers have had a difficult go as of late, with 4 straight losses, including a 7-0 ass-whooping at the hands of the Rangers in their last game. The Oilers have won 3 straight and are 7-3-0 in their last 10. They are a pretty ragged group though, and are definitely riding a strange high based on work ethic and buying into team systems, it would seem. Let’s see if they can get another, or if the Broad Street Bullies will be angry tonight.

Prediction – 5-1 Oilers

Big Mac still learning his role..

I miss this Steve MacIntyre...

I miss this Steve MacIntyre...

Big MacIntyre’s use in the Oilers lineup has been given much debate on this here blog, as well as other blogs and forums out there. What good is an enforcer that can’t enforce?

Well, yesterday the Edmonton Sun had an article about the big man. I think he’s starting to get it, but that remains to be seen, if he can keep it going. Here’s the quote that made me feel like it finally clicked somewhere in his brain:

The times that I’ve been in, I feel I was a little hesitant. The last couple of games, I wanted to go out there and be a little more aggressive. I’m not going to find too many guys willing to go. I was talking to my dad the other day and he said you have to go there and do something, get something going.

Smart man, that MacIntyre Sr. We’ve mentioned it here before several times. If they won’t go with you when you ask them, then make them come to you. It’s how Boogaard has made a living.

It’s not an easy job for MacIntyre at all, there is a lot of risk involved. He can’t just throwdown anytime, as a guy that makes Continue reading 'Big Mac still learning his role..'»

Well, if you’ve been living under a rock tonight’s line ups might shock you a little… Taylor Hall sustained a high ankle sprain last game completing his Gordie Howe hattrick. Terrible to see him go down as he was steadily improving all season and with Hemsky out and Penner traded it’s up to Eberle, Magnus, and Omark to keep the excitement levels high enough to tune in. No pressure.

Perennial scratch Brule did not skate this morning and is out of the line up and Giroux, who has been leading the barons in scoring, has been called up to shore up the numbers. He’ll be wearing #12 tonight. Plante has also drawn in, but not sure who’s sitting on D.

Our MVP has returned! But Dubnyk will be getting the start again tonight.

Tonight’s opponents have gone 1-7-2 in their last 10, so expect them to come out hard against our boys who are pretty banged up.

A little late on this one, mainly because Trogdor and Steve-O think they can slack off their unpaid jobs just like they do with their paid jobs.

Here is our quarterly report card for the Edmonton Oilers for Quarter 3:

Some more information regarding Teubert…

Hopefully there is a lot more of this comraderie in the Oilers future..

Hopefully there is a lot more of this comraderie in the Oilers future..

A while back, I had a conversation with fellow blogger Bobby Scribe from He was asking me for information on Dustin Penner a month before the trade to learn more about him, which I provided.

Once the trade happened, Bobby got back in touch with me to return the favor on Teubert. If any of you guys have any questions on Teubert, please forward them off to me (in the comments is fine, or e-mail contact at thiswebsite (or use the contact us form under the help menu). Anyways, here is the information he’s provided so far, and it unfortunately adds to the uneasy feeling many are having about this trade. I had initially started things off by asking if Teubert was just a victim of the numbers game in L.A. (as they have a lot of D-talent there… both in the system, and in the NHL). Here were his comments (and more from the rest of the NHL world): Continue reading 'Some more information regarding Teubert…'»
