PRE-GAME RANT

The Oilers have a chance to put another nail in the coffin of the Calgary Flames’ playoff hopes. That would be nice to see. The Flames are two points behind the playoff cut right now, but they’ve played 76 games and most teams have played 73 or 74. If our AHL team is going to win one in the remaining 8 games, this is the one.

That said, I don’t see it happening. Although we do have some nice new lines tonight! (thanks to Dawgtoy for relaying that).

Prediction: 5-1 Flames

   This is basically the Flames “Cup”. I’m predicting lots of fights and a bad loss. Then again, I expect a very good goal tending performance tonight.

   If nothing else, it should be good to watch for the fights and two teams with something to prove, I hope.

   I’m certainly not expecting a whole lot from this game but hoping for some great little things to happen such as a great physical game from Jones & Vandermeer, & hopefully another sweet goal from Eberle. Possible that outstanding (or flukey) goaltending could net us a win, & how damn sweet would that be; but I sure as hell wont be betting on it lol.

   -Hartikainen’s 1st NHL goal! Nice hustle and stick work on that one. A couple exciting breakaways. Good to see.

   -PRV had a goal & led the team with 6 shots. I liked his energy level this game. His speed is truly impressive.

   -Just when I thought it was safe to declare the Flamers defeated, they came back and dashed my hopes of leaving the regular season with some dignity. Damn you Kipper.
