Petry sent down, Chorney recalled

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Taylor Chorney and assigned defenceman Jeff Petry to Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

I really like Petry. He showed good poise most nights, but there some plays where he had problems with the puck. So, I can why he was sent back down.. but I’m not worried. It’ll be good to give Chorney another opportunity too, and maybe he might be better for the powerplay.

He got a taste of the big leagues, and now he gets to develop more, great asset management if you will by the Oilers here. Not rushing him too much, but giving him just enough of a taste so he knows wghat he needs to improve on.

yeah we lose nothing at this point by spreading the “taste of the big leagues around” it worked with Peckham last year. I think it is more of a “development of all assets” move than a direct criticism of his play.
