The lovely Shay Maria
Trying out some changes. This thing takes an hour or two to put together usually, and work gets pretty hectic so it ends up getting missed every now and then. So I will try something else. mainly, instead of having the NHL standings, there will just be a link to the NHL site and some comments about them. We will continue to have an update on the Barons, Oil Kings and the POTF pools. Plus any NHL news that I find interesting.
The Oilers won a fucking game! Holy shit! And Khabibulin wasn’t in net…go figure. We are still 30th though, although Ottawa is looking to make it interesting at the end. Rangers were apparently scouting the Hershey Bears (re: Souray) and according to Sportsnet dude, he’s too slow for the A. That’s not good for us. Also, apparently the Thrashers have been scouting our team for the past 3 games…although when you think about the fact that we are a terrible team in dead last and its only three weeks to the trade deadline that probably shouldn’t be too surprising. Oh, and Dubnyk got his first shutout. Congrats to him.
In other league news Stamkos hit 40; Savard broke his grape again (or got it broke); Kessel doesn’t really like his coach (I’d laugh if Burke tried to shop him around for 2 firsts and got a whole bunch of “Not a chance” responses); Crosby is out till March and now Malkin out for the season; Brent Johnson knocked the fuck out of DiPietro; Conroy was fired/forced retired in Calgary; and the Dallas/Boston game ruled (well at least the first few minutes).
Anyways, on to the standings:

PRE-GAME RANT
Sorry for the late GDT thread everyone! The Oilers head into Nashville tonight. The Predators are 5-4-1 in their last 10, while the Oilers are an abysmal 1-8-1, although the effort has generally been there.
I think the Oilers almost had one against the Jackets, and just let it get away. But I can’t see the Oilers winning this one.
Prediction: 4-2 Predators

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers are officially dead last in the league again (not sure if this was just after last night though). Today they’ll face the 2nd last place team in the West, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The season is absolutely out of hand yet again, as the Oilers can’t seem to win even when they put up a good effort like they did last night. They are currently on pace for an even worse year than last year. That said, I’m not worried about this team, and I don’t think many of you are either… we knew it would be bad.
Early report is that Dustin Penner should be back for this one (flu).
I’m not even sure what to predict for this one. The Oilers have to win eventually though, right? Prediction: 4-3 Oilers.

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers head into St. Louis tonight with hopes of ending their current reign of stink. Both of these teams are 2-7-1 in their last 10. Some key lineup notes tonight: Dubnyk starts, Eberle returns, and Penner is out with the flu. Yay for Eberle! Seems like it’s been forever since he last played.
Prediction: 5-2 Oilers

PRE-GAME RANT
I have to admit… it’s been a long break since the last Oilers game, but I haven’t missed Oilers hockey at all. I’m normally all about watching the Oilers as much as I can, but the break was nice. Hemsky hopefully will be back tonight. The lines below are the actual practice lines from today. Despite what Tencer thinks, Stortini will not be in the lineup tonight (uhh… awkwwwarrrrd). I can only assume that his penciling in Stortini on line 4 was a force of habit.
Anyways, I’ll be at the game tonight and hoping for a win, so…
Prediction: 4-2 Oilers
Khabi starts tonight, so hopefully the long time off will give him a long enough break to get into top form. OK, stop laughing..
