Racki: The rumor mill has been saying that the Oilers are trying to move Ladislav Smid to Nashville for offensive D-man Jonathan Blum. I don’t like that he lacks the physical aspect in his game, but sounds like he is a two-way defender. He appears to be developing the “right way” too, through their farm team. Pretty rock solid offensive numbers down there. At first I thought “oh great, another puff-tart on defense…”… but as long as he plays a good positional game, I’m OK with it. He was drafted 23rd overall in 2007 by the Preds. So far he has 34 points in 54 games for the Milwaukee Admirals. I hope the Oil have been scouting him quite hard and know what they’re doing. I like Smid and would not be happy to see him go. Would rather send them Foster if they would take it.. but I would have to figure that doesn’t get that deal done at all.

I don’t like the sound of this. AHL defender for a proven NHL defender with nothing but upside? Foster better be the guy not Smid.
