There are few teams in the NHL that can compete with the Oilers for bottom feeder position, and this afternoon the Oilers will face one of them in the Senators. The Senators are on a worse recent skid than the Oilers, as a matter of fact. They’ve dropped their last 5 and are winless in their last 11, and their last win was nearly a month ago (1 day shy). The Oilers are no slouches in the losing department either this year, and are 2-7-1 in their last 10. This match-up could have draft pick implications… OK, I’m just building this one up needlessly… this is probably not going to be an exciting one, but I do expect an Oilers win.

Prediction: 6-1 Oilers (where did that come from?)

Horcoff is out with Bronchitis … not 100% sure on the lineups, but these were the lines at yesterday’s practice.

Hall – Cogliano- Eberle
Paajarvi – Gagner – Omark
Reddox – Penner – Hemsky
Jacques – Fraser – Jones

Peckham – Gilbert
Smid- Petry
Vandermeer – Foster

Looking forward to Hockey Day in Canada! If you see a clip(s) about 87 bags of hockey gear being given out, it’s a thing that Crosby & the players association are doing across the country – giving gear to kids in need. The presentation part in my local area is happening at a local backyard rink, people we know through Cole Harbour minor hockey. We’ve been to their rink a couple times, it’s pretty awesome and when you see their ‘Stanley Cup’, my son’s name is on it from last year! Anyway, there’s nothing better than pond or backyard rink hockey, looking forward to seeing the coverage today. Nice to see the Oilers early too!!

    That is super cool LNOF!!

Our projected lines look interesting. I won’t be able watch the game today :( ,going to brother in-laws cabin but…
    Go OIlers!!

Just saw the Cole Harbour clip, not sure if they’ll go back there again to show more of the rink. I stand corrected on the gear, it’s 87 bags to 10 minor hockey asscn’s in NS, but it’s part of the Goals and Dreams initiative of the NHLPA which is country wide. Sounds like they do a province a year?

Yup, pretty hard for the fans (& even more importantly for the team) to get excited when Khabi lets the 1st goal in before the 5min mark, YET AGAIN!!! At least we know who to thank when we land the 1st pick again in June :/

Well, one guy that had a good game was Dustin Penner. He played center with Reddox and Hemsky tonight (for those that missed the game, or just didn’t notice) and did a fairly good job. He wasn’t great in the dot (only 40%), but he got 2 goals and finished +1, along with 3 checks. He earned 2nd star in the game too.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll repeat it.. would love to see what Hall and Eberle can do with Penner in the middle. Even if he was on his natural LW and Hall played center (but preferably the former). I wouldn’t want that as a permanent solution (unless it was amazingly good), but it would be a nice experiment to see what they’re all capable of together.
