Today’s game is a quarterfinal between Switzerland and Canada. The Swiss finished 3rd in Pool A (2W, 2L), while Canada finished 2nd in Pool B (3W, 1OTL). Canada pounded the Swiss in the pre-competition round by 8-0. I suspect this will be a lot closer of a game. But I do think the Canadians will still dominate this one. Switzerland’s wins came against Germany and Slovakia, which aren’t exactly powerhouse teams, however they gave the USA a run for their money in a 2-1 loss on December 31, 2010.
Prediction: 6-2 Canada

GAME STORY
The Canadians were flustered early by Benjamin Conz. The Swiss also scored the first goal of the game, and that probably scared a few Canadian fans. However, the Canadians pressed hard from the second period on, and credit to Conz for keeping the Swiss in the game. Next game for Team Canada is vs. the United States tomorrow (January 3, 2011) at 5:30PM in the semi-final. This one should feel like a gold-medal game after last year (in which the Americans won gold in OT). Visentin will get the start in that game as well.
