PRE-GAME RANT

Oilers seem to have 3 scoring lines going these days, with not all lines firing at once. Who will be the hot line tonight? We’ll have to wait and see. However the Paajarvi-Gagner-Omark line was magic against the Ducks. Hopefully they can keep that going, as both Paajarvi and Omark need a boost in confidence. The Oilers are in every game, but their record hasn’t been very good recently. They’ve only won 2 of their last 10, although one of those wins was a very impressive performance against a much better Sharks team. The wild are 6-4-0 in that time frame.

Prediction: I think the Oilers can win this one. I’ll guess 5-2 Edmonton. Am I ever right on these things? My record is definitely far worse than the Oilers’ record.

PRE-GAME RANT

And we are livvvvvee and back in business!!! Thank god. Today was a horrible day for me, as my work had a major upgrade done last night. It was expected to go nice and smoothly, but I woke up to find out that someone forgot to do one small thing… 8+ hours of overtime later, here I am, to write the GDT. Then add to that, I still had to go out and shovel, but that went rather quick and was a welcome change from what I was doing all day today for work.

Anyways, the Oil head into Anaheim tonight. I suspect the line-up will be much of the same, although I presume we’ll see Khabibulin tonight.

Prediction: 4-3 SO win for Edmonton

Hooray! A team that is slumping almost as bad as we are. Half a season to go, but the Nurse Sharks are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2002/2003. If anyone can rekindle their confidence, the therapeutic Oilers may be just what the psychologist ordered. The Sharks can clinch a sweep of the season series with the Oilers tonight if they can win at home.

Sounds like there will be no lineup changes from the Stars game, where the Oilers played good hockey but came up short. I’d blame the disallowed goal, but we weren’t the only team it happened to…

PRE-GAME RANT

Hopefully Hemsky and Hall can look beyond the all star invites and focus on the game at hand tonight. Also congrats to Eberle who also got an invite if he’s healthy enough to attend.

This is the first matchup with the Stars this season and they aren’t to be taken lightly having greatly turned things around after finishing 12th in the West last year.

The Oilers will be in tough again with an inexperienced pairing of Chorney and Petry rounding out the 6 defenseman tonight. They’re also experimenting with Hall at center. It’s not new to Hall who spent some time at the position in junior, but this will be his first go at the NHL level.
