GDT Oilers 2, Stars 4 – Game 46 – 2011-01-20 @ 7:00 PM – SNET W

PRE-GAME RANT
Tonight the Oilers face the Dallas Stars, who are currently sitting at 3rd in the conference. They’ve been on a tear too, with 4 wins in a row (7-2-1 in their last 10). The Oilers are in the opposite situation, having had a tough time winning in their last 10 (2-7-1) and having dropped their last 3. I don’t see any reason to think that either streak will change tonight.
Horcoff is due back tonight, however (although not enough to swing things in our favor).
Prediction: 4-1 Stars
Also, rumors now starting of Penner or Hemsky being dealt before the deadline (barring any concussions), per the Fourth Period.
PROJECTED LINES

Paajarvi – Gagner – Omark
Reddox – Cogliano – Jones

Take note of the link in the GDT post above… rumors of Hemsky/Penner interest from teams.
I don’t like the idea of trading Jones, but I guess they have to try to get something for an UFA. If they don’t re-sign him, it will be akin to the Glenncross situation.
Agreed, Chucker. “Get ‘er done, Tambi”
I like Jones’ play. I hope he stays. It’s too bad Hemsky is hurt. That’ll mean if Tambi makes a deal, bye,bye to Penner. I think trading one of our few players that actually has and uses his size is a step backward. Myself, if I ran the show(which I don’t), I would find out which of the two actually wants to stay after next year then try to make a move with that in mind.
Yah, good thoughts Scarriere. I’m in no hurry to move either, but honestly, I hope Penner sticks around past the end of his contract because I think he brings the missing parts we need, which you describe.
Bah, another L. We need to get out of this rut. Steer into the slide, boys? (p.s. ixnay on the radingtray emmerHay.)
Losses hurt any day. I can’t decide if the worst ones are when we outplay and lose or get taken for a ride and lose – at least not in this type of situation.
Khabibulin’s stats keep saying “Start Dubnyk more”.
Nice to see Petry get his first, nice shot too. I bet Smid talks more about his assist than Petry brags about his goal, though
Yah really Khabibulin is notttt looking good. Nabokov anyone?
Just kidding..
I can’t believe Detroit would sign Nabokov to such a deal without having something up their sleeve? Maybe a sign and claim and deal? If they intend to rely on 29 teams passing on a good netminder at .570M for the year (even less actually) they must be delusional.
Then again, the Blues have signed two no-shows so far
The only thing I can figure is that they’re attempting to sign him and have something worked out with a team that is going to claim him and trade them one of their other goaltenders. I don’t think that even makes sense. But I just don’t see how they can get him.
