The teams advancing to the semi-final have been set.

Russia will first face Sweden on Monday at 1:30PM MST. Canada will then face the USA (also on Monday) at 5:30PM MST. The winners of the games will face each other for the gold, while the losers will play for the bronze. Both final games will take place on Wednesday. The bronze medal game will take place at 1:30PM MST, and the gold medal game will take place at 5:30PM MST.

All games should be available on TSN in Canada. The USA games are apparently going to play on the NHL Network for American viewers.

Rumor from Dan Tencer is that Shawn Belle and Ryan O’Marra are headed back down to Oklahoma City. Nothing official yet though. But Speculation from Tencer is that Linus Omark will return to the team, and Liam Reddox will also be called up. I could handle that. I would have liked to have seen Belle a bit more, but at least they’re keeping Jeff Petry here. Belle’s returning back to the AHL has more to do with Jim Vandermeer returning to the line-up, however. He should be back for Tuesday’s game (which makes me think that only 1 call-up will be made, unless Eberle is out long term).

Jordan Eberle gets his MRI today. Apparently it’s an ankle injury. Luckily, it is not broken though, as x-ray’s have proven. He is wearing a boot cast on it, according to the Edmonton Journal.

Edit: it’s official, per Ryan Rishaug… Belle and O’Marra have been returned back to Oklahoma City.

Today’s game is a quarterfinal between Switzerland and Canada. The Swiss finished 3rd in Pool A (2W, 2L), while Canada finished 2nd in Pool B (3W, 1OTL). Canada pounded the Swiss in the pre-competition round by 8-0. I suspect this will be a lot closer of a game. But I do think the Canadians will still dominate this one. Switzerland’s wins came against Germany and Slovakia, which aren’t exactly powerhouse teams, however they gave the USA a run for their money in a 2-1 loss on December 31, 2010.

Prediction: 6-2 Canada
