Well Canada is now 2-0 in the preliminary rounds. They beat Switzerland handily on Monday by a score of 8-0. They beat Sweden on Tuesday quite easily as well by a score of 4-1… however I felt in this game the penalties were heavily unfavorably balanced. The Swedes spent far too much time in the box for this one. Looks like the Swedes had 12 penalties (10 distinct power plays, with 2 10-minute misconducts) compared to Canada’s 4. That might be undisciplined hockey.. but I think it was also less than spectacular referreeing.

I’m not sure how tonight will go, but I figure this one will be another easy game for the Canadians, but with less penalties (I’m sure that sounds cocky, but I think the Finns aren’t on par at the moment with Canada).

Prediction: 5-1 Canada

  1. chucker says:

I always like the games against the Fins. They play similar to Canadians. Lots of gritty hitting and attitude. If nothing else, it’ll be a chippy game I expect.

  2. Racki says:

Yah the Finns played pretty hard last year. I remember one of their d-men was catching attention with us fans. I can’t remember the guy’s name though. Hit like a freight train though.

We should get to see Toni Rajala again. I’m not expecting much though, sadly.

  3. Allu says:

maybe D’s name was Sami Vatanen?

  4. Racki says:

Hey Allu.. welcome to the site. To be honest I’m not sure I’d remember it if I heard it.
