The Oil head back into the united center tonight for another match against the Chicago Blackhawks. Last time they were there (Oct. 29), things went very well for the Oilers, as they won 7-4 in a pretty wild game, where they pretty much dominated the Hawks. Khabibulin also played a pretty solid game as well. The Oilers weren’t perfect, but when most people (myself included) were predicting an ugly loss to the Hawks, you’ll take an imperfect win. Especially one where we put on our best offensive showing of the season.

Last game vs. Chicago, the Oilers saw 2-point performance from each of the young kids, plus the grizzly old veteran – Sam Gagner. Will we see that again tonight?

Prediction: Hawks wake up this time and get the better of us in a 4-3 game.

  1. Mr.Majestyk says:

The Hawks haven’t been stellar as of late, but I’m a bit worried that they take some revenge on us for last game.

  2. chucker says:

Yeah, I think the Hawks will be fired up for this game for sure MM. Hopefully we are too. We have a lot of games here in the next month and it will really set the tone for how this team plays the rest of the year in terms of being competative or looking at the lottery again. Tychkowski has a good article on it:

I pretty much agee with this and have always said that you make the playoffs in October and November. Points are easier and teams just can’t catch up usually if they are out of the hunt.

I’m not expecting playoffs, but it would be nice to see the team gain confidence in wins and gel together well. It would make future planning and trade/acquistions easier in terms of looking for needs.

  3. Racki says:

It’d be interesting actually to see how closely the end of November’s standings mirror the final standings on given years. You’d have to figure that if we don’t right the ship soon, it’ll be too hard to correct, like you say.

edit: Nm, I see they have that stat in the article.. wow.

  4. Spartacus says:

Optimistic prediction: The Oilers own this team the same way they owned the Red Wings last year… Oilers 6 – ‘Hawks 3.

Realistic prediction: The Blackhawks avenge last week’s loss in typical ‘Hawks fashion… tic-tac-toe passing and loads of offense equals a Chicago 5 – Edmonton 1 score.

    Pessimistic prediction: Pain.

  5. Racki says:

    lol @ the link, Spartacus

  6. Racki says:

Marian Hossa is expected to be back in the lineup tonight

  7. John says:

  8. MetalOil says:

I don’t know, the optics going into this one do not look all that good. 1st game of the road trip against the cup champs who are probably eager to redeem themselves after what happened in the last meeting should point to a Hawks win but still my gut tells we will pull it out.

    Prediction 4-2 Oilers !!!

  9. Ktown says:

Whooo Hooo!!! Eberle Jersey is 1-0!!

Left the chat for awhile, didn’t make it back ’cause the wife stole the laptop, but the Ebs Jersey came through with the mojo…

Worried about Pisani and the ex-Oiler curse, but I guess we forgot that we had the ex-Hawk to pull it out!!
