Dan Tencer had an interview with Taylor Hall today. You can listen to the interview here.
Here are a couple of highlights though:
DT asks mentions Hall’s ability to play centre and how he played that position pre-Windsor.
TH: Yah, since I’ve been a little kid, I played center all the way growing up. In my first year, I was a 16-year old kid coming in and they didn’t really have a spot for me in the line up so I played wing to start my year. In my 2nd year I played centre the whole half of the year, until I got cut at World Juniors and then for the rest of the year probably about half and half. So I’ve played a whole lot of centre in my career. This year when there (were) injuries, I filled in and did very well, so it shouldn’t be a problem if I do have to play centre.
DT asks if he’s had those discussions with the Oilers yet (asked if he can play centre).
TH: They’ve asked me and they’ve asked my coach and my coach said “he’s a natural centre” and I truly am, but that doesn’t mean I don’t play wing just as well. Whatever the coach and the team needs, I’ll do.
DT asks if his game is as effective at centre as it was on the wing in junior.
TH: Probably equally effective. Like I said before, when you get down to it, it’s about making plays and it’s about beating people to pucks and winning races. And once you get into the offensive zone, into the blueline, it doesn’t matter what position you are, you’re trying to score and put the puck into the back of the net.
Other highlights.. Dan Tencer also addresses the Hamonic hit. Sounds like Hall isn’t going to change his playing style at all (which doesn’t mean he won’t keep his head up.. but he won’t shy from the physical play). Check out the interview. Tencer also asks Hall for his opinion on Seguin as well.
