From TSN.ca:
According to a report in Swedish newspaper Expressen, the Edmonton Oilers have signed prospect Linus Omark to a two-year deal.
It is reportedly a two-way deal worth $800,000 if Omark sticks with the Oilers. The deal also included an $80,000 signing bonus.
The 23-year old Omark was selected in the fourth round, 97th overall, by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry draft. He has spent the past season with Moscow Dynamo of the KHL, scoring 20 goals and adding 16 assists in 56 games. The Oilers remained busy on Monday as they also signed NCAA prospect Chris Vande Velde.
The 23-year old Vande Velde will report to the Oilers’ AHL affiliate in Springfield this weekend. The University of North Dakota product was chosen in the fourth round, 97th overall by the Oilers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. In 43 games for the Fighting Sioux this season, the Moorhead, Minnesota native had 18 goals and 17 assists.
Good to hear that he signed a 2-way deal for Omark!
UPDATE: Added the Vande Velde signing.

PRE-GAME RANT
Didn’t we just play these assholes? Hmm, just a few weeks ago, it looks like. The Wild took that one 4-2. I’m hoping for a much better result this time around. I’ve proclaimed Deslauriers the starter in this game in my line-ups (not sure if that will be the case, however) because of the “win and you’re in” concept…. the Oilers lost the last game (surprise, surprise), but Deslauriers definitely deserved the win. I’d like to see him get the nod in net again tonight.
So, the Oilers are winless in their last 5 (with 4 of those games being road games). The Wild have one win in that time frame (vs. the Kings). I don’t expect this to be an epic game, by any means, but it would be nice to see the Oilers finish the season with a bang and remind us all that they do still have a backbone.
Prediction: 3-2 Oilers

Well, game 2 of the playoff series between the Windsor Spitfires and the Plymouth Whalers ended 5-3 for the Spitfires, tonight.
Taylor Hall had 1G and 1A tonight and was a +2, Tyler Seguin had 0 pts and was -2 on the night, and Cam Fowler also was pointless and was a -1.

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers head into Arizona tonight to conclude their road trip with a game against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena. The Oilers are winless on this road trip so far, and have lost the last 4 games. The Coyotes have dropped 4 of their last 5 games, having cooled off a bit after climbing the standings quite handily. They will look to bounce back against a team that hasn’t really had much of anything go right for them this year.
Prediction: 4-2 Coyotes

PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers head into Dallas tonight to face another non-playoff team in the Stars. The Oilers have lost their last 3 games and are officially a lock for 30th place. The Stars are having an interesting pattern in their last 10 games.. lose one, win one, lose one, win one, etc… if things keep going that way, they’re due for a loss again, as their last game was a 5-1 win over the Stars, courtesy of a Steve Ott hattrick.
Prediction: 3-2 Oilers in the shootout.
