The great debate.. Tyler Seguin or Taylor Hall?

The great debate.. Tyler Seguin or Taylor Hall?

One of my favorite blogs out there is Coming Down The Pipe, hosted by Guy Flaming and Dean Millard. These two are very knowledgeable when it comes to young prospects. Recently, they interviewed Oilers GM Steve Tambellini and Director of NHL Central Scouting E.J. McGuire on their show and asked some pretty good draft related questions such as the great Taylor Hall vs. Tyler Seguin debate.

The full audio of the interview can be downloaded from their site here. But read on for a summary of the interview if you can not download/listen…. Continue reading 'Coming Down The Pipe interview – E.J. McGuire and Steve Tambellini'»

Quinn reacts to Souray trade request

By , April 13, 2010 1:08 pm

Pat Quinn made a short, but strong statement today in regards to Sheldon Souray’s trade request:

It’s been no secret here. He’s made it clear for a long time (that he wants a trade). We have a hard enough time trying to build team framework. I always believed you should be able to look around that room and look into a teammate’s eyes and say ‘I’m giving it my best and I want you to do the same. That’s how a team builds trust. If you don’t want to play here, don’t screw around. Get the hell out. If you’ve got one guy sitting over there who doesn’t want to bloody well be here, how do you build trust, how do you have a team? You don’t. Sheldon knows how I feel about that sort of thing. This organization, certainly in my time, and I know the people involved here, are not people who would order them to go and play if they were in (injured). Legally it’s dumb. Secondly, I as a coach don’t want a guy in the lineup wearing the sweater who is in a position to let his teammates down because he is not physically or mentally ready to go.

EDIT: Updated with more quote from Quinn.

Monday Morning Standings…Post Season Edition

By , April 13, 2010 9:36 am

Thankfully this embarrassing season is done with.

Well here is the final standings of the year. When I started this I hoped it would be more exciting for us, but alas it was not to be.

Oh well. With the draft lottery today and the playoffs starting tomorrow we still have a lot to talk about.

Also be sure to join the new playoff pool which can be found here.

A quick note about #77…

By , April 12, 2010 12:32 pm

Not sure if I mentioned this here already, or if anyone else did, but since Ryan Whitney came here (coincidence or not), Tom Gilbert has been a PPG player. He played 19 games with Whitney and has 3 goals, 16 assists for 19 points. Bloody hell that is impressive. Also, a small side note… Ryan Whitney will have surgery in the off-season similar to the surgery he had on his other foot (to repair an irregular arch in his foot that causes him discomfort).
