PRE-GAME RANT

The Oilers head into Dallas tonight to face another non-playoff team in the Stars. The Oilers have lost their last 3 games and are officially a lock for 30th place. The Stars are having an interesting pattern in their last 10 games.. lose one, win one, lose one, win one, etc… if things keep going that way, they’re due for a loss again, as their last game was a 5-1 win over the Stars, courtesy of a Steve Ott hattrick.

Prediction: 3-2 Oilers in the shootout.

GAME NOTES

- Moreau and O’Sullivan were scratched at Wednesday’s practice and may be out, with Jones and Linglet replacing them.
- Goaltender Matt Climie was recalled from Texas, by Dallas. I have a feeling he’ll be between the pipes for the Stars for this game.
- UPDATE: the scratches for tonight’s game (per Tencer) are Robert Nilsson and Patrick O’Sullivan. Jones and Linglet are in fact in. Linglet will wear number 36 for this game.

I believe an Oilers win offically knocks out the Stars tonight. Keep playing spoiler boys!

With this being a PPV game I think I will take in the crucial meeting between Flamers & Avs tonight. That game just has much more appeal at this point. :(

    Lets go Avs!

I’ll be catching parts of the Oilers game tonight probably, but also watching the Avs (hopefully) beat on the Flamers. Go Anderson! (he’s one of my pool goalies :P )

Looks like Moreau is in and Nilsson & O’Sully are out. I really do not understand the reasoning behind this. Nilsson is a player that I think has shown SOME improvement and should be getting more looks to see if he has a place on the team next year(or should be auditioned for a trade) while Moreau under no circumstances should be a part of the team moving forward.

I think from somewhere, it sounds like Moreau is the benefit of the “we can’t do that to our captain” speech.

And damn, no stream on this one.

Yeah it was there earlier, seen it dissipated… that’s too bad…

Well, Dallas is up 2-0 so far. Booooo.

  9. By MetalOil, April 2, 2010 @ 7:48 pm  (Quote)

Well the boys are fighting back just as they did against the Wings last week. 3-2 Stars now thanks to goals by Penner & Poo.

Tied !!! The captain gets one and cements his place in the lineup for the rest of the season :) possibly next season as well.

Yeah, saw that it was PPV, and said screw. Then they were down 3-0 and I was happy to save my money, now that it’s tied, I’m less sure.

    6-3 now? (Dallas leads)

I’d say it was good to save the money.

From what Tencer say’s, Dubynk let a couple softies in, and it looks like a tip in or 2 also went in on him… just a bad night for goaltending, and a couple selfish turnovers…

Could of turned out 3-2 Oil, oh well 5 games left

Quinn: Brule has a high ankle sprain.

Crap, Flamers up 2-0. Come on Avs, you bums!

  16. By MetalOil, April 2, 2010 @ 9:25 pm  (Quote)

I still have a feeling the Flamers are gonna blow this lead :)

Weird game. 3-3-3 goals per period, all 9 scored at one end of the ice. Fans at that end got their money’s worth (if you’re a DAL fan). Struds put in the 6th GA, nice deflection past Devan. A couple dribblers past him as well but a couple he had no chance on. I enjoyed the 2nd when it was the Oilers turn to score, other than that blech, especially because I had to listen to the DAL feed. Not as bad as some but they were sly about getting their little digs in. I found them annoying, but not as annoying as the Flamers or Nucks announcers, hence I’m not watching anything right now.

The Flamers can thank Kipper for this one if they can hold on.

  19. By Racki, April 2, 2010 @ 10:22 pm  (Quote)

Kipper really robbed Stewart to keep the Flamers lead. Plus, he frustrated Yip a couple of times in the 3rd too.

How did Linglet and Jones look?

Anyone else read the comments from Whitney post game? Good to see someone step up in the role of an actual leader! This is motivation, we need this voice to be heard in the locker room!

As per Tencer late last night:

Ryan Whitney on tonight: “Everyone in here should feel embarrased about this game. That’s why this team is in 30th place.”

    Followed later by:

Whitney continues: “It’s tough to figure out how we haven’t figured it out yet. There’s 5 games left.”

I for one am extremely happy SOMEONE is at least stepping up to the task of leadership role since guys like Moreau/Horcoff/Pisani obviously can’t!

  22. By Racki, April 3, 2010 @ 8:50 am  (Quote)

yah as tough as it is to hear, it’s good to hear that he isn’t just throwing out the “well we played a good game, but the bounces didn’t go our way” speeches.

  23. By Bostonoiler, April 3, 2010 @ 10:02 am  (Quote)

Missed the game last night to coach in my high school’s non hockey players game…The hitting there was better than the Oilers and thats being nice…..Well glad i missed this one, hoping for a better one tonight against the yotes.
