PRE-GAME RANT
The Oilers are coming off a loss to the Ducks and the Blues last played against the Kings on thursday taking the game 3-1. The Blues are in the same boat as the Ducks. That ferry boat heading over the ocean to an island for people to play golf on. They’re still not mathematically out, but it would take some luck for them to get in. They have struggled at home this year so this could be a close game today. It looks like Gagner will resting the hip again, so likely not much changes in the line up. Maybe that’s why no one is posting info about it anywhere. I for one will be disappointed to not see Mason’s playoff beard this year.

Pretty quiet in here again. I’m settling in to watch now though.

No penalty called either… That was very much a hook.

Good to see Dubnyk back between the pipes. I guess he’s less contagious now.

Much better than his fight from the beginning of last year.

It seems the Oilers/Blues often end up being close games. The Oilers had a good effort, though.
However, my focus was elsewhere – SMU are CIS Mens Hockey Champs!! Woo hoo!! Apologies to my Alberta friends, but I’m SMU alumni and this is pretty huge – first championship in the history of the school, first time to the finals in almost 40 years. I’m sure the SMU campus is rocking tonight!

Ditto for me LNOF! Was glad to see the boys break the 80 year curse!

You said it! I’m so happy for Trevor Steinberg, he’s a great guy and a great coach. He was so emotional when they interviewed him. Definitely made the right call on Danton too. I felt bad that Colby Pridham got injured so it’s nice they were able to overcome that and he played an important role in getting them to this game today. He’s a great guy – when he played for the Mooseheads he spent some time with one of my son’s peewee teams – he and Logan MacMillan came out to run a practice for the boys. Pro didn’t work out for him but it’s nice he’s still playing and able to be part of this championship.

Missed the third period. But, on the bright side, I had a very nice steak dinner at my sister in law’s house.
Go Bears!!

Congrats to you SMU fans

It was a great game to watch…wish the Bears would have won but I guess that 14th title will have to wait until next year.
Tencer also ruined it for me as he twittered about the result when the sportsnet feed was only in the second period.

Also, as somewhat relevant to the Oilers, Sportsnet had an interview with the Oilers scout Bill Moores. No Oiler talk but it was interesting that they were scouting that game, mentioned that most of the uni players played major junior and that the talent level is really high, plus made mention of the great Clare Drake.
