As for Comrie I would love to have him back next year. Give him a slight raise if need be, he is meant to be an Oiler and I get the feeling that he hated how thing turned out after his first stint here and that he wants to be here for the long term.

That's another really good plus for Comrie. Like I say he is the only one I expected to be traded that wasn't, and the only one who I think has earned another year. He may get a better offer from another team though. Hard to say. No-one was banging on his door last Free agent frenzy. With him being sick he certainly didn't showcase himself. If anything the big difference this year to last is the PR of him being a more mature responsible contributor. He has certainly made strides forward in shaking his cry-baby bad apple image. Whether that is enough for a different team to throw $2mil+ at him is yet to be seen. I don't think this seasons UFA pool is that deep so it will really come down to need.

Perhaps Comrie wasn't moved because they want to keep him (they being the Oilers). I can say that of all the veterans left now to keep, Comrie is my choice. We have a lot of small players here, and he could help them become better players. He still can contribute quite well too, and he's good for the city's image.

Well realistically there is only so much that we can do with the guys we have left.

Moreau is next to valueless in the off-season: old, offensively-challenged, takes terrible penalties, and made of glass. Maybe worth a 3-4th round pick in that sense. His value at the deadline was veteran presence for a team that was in contention, that won't hold any water in the offseason.

O'Sullivan- Offensive flair and talent, but not on a level equal to his salary hit, and not just with us. Attitude issues on multiple teams. Not terrible value in the off season, but better than chopper.

Comrie- Actually not a bad value at all. I was most surprised that he wasn't moved actually. He is an experienced offensive presence who actually shows up for games, and an almost negligible price tag. He actually had lots of value at the deadline but none in the off-season (why trade for a UFA). Actually if he is amenable I would be fine with extending him another year at current rate (as long as he can pass a medical).

The only big deal I want to see at draft day is either a salary swap involving Horcoff, or Souray moved for prospects and picks. Other than that we need to buy some short-term low-dollar figure UFA's to play with our up-and-coming guys. then it is let them develop and wait for our crack at a cup

Imissed the whole game.....My high school is under a bomb threat(I know right!!! I'm not bsing you either!) so I was watching the news. I like Jones though, and think he is going to be a 4th liner here next year too. Also from listening to Tambi's interview earlier before the game I was getting the idea that the change isn't done and he expects things to get done at the draft. Things like drafting a new face to the franchise, and making some deals (Like trading Moreau, OSullivan Comrie etc) We only have 33 million committed right now so I foresee some trades and signings. Should be a fun off-season. Lets enjoy the rest of the season (If possible lol)
