Considering the disparity in talent pool size to draw from as well, the U.S. and China should be owning the podium.

considering our population is about a 1/3 of Germany’s 1/10 of the US’s, and about 1/50 of China’s I’d say we’re doing pretty damned good.

by the same token though, that emphasizes just how impressive showings from countries like Norway are.

somebody should do a per capita medal count.

Yah exactly.. 4th or 5th is fine by me (still feel bad for that one girl that cried for finishing 5th thinking she let us down.. far from it). It’s not a competition for me either to be #1 overall. Just get as many medals as you can, and we’ll all be happy. It’ll be a long time before Canada is #1 at any Olympics.

But yah, as I said above, I wouldn’t mind seeing more corporate sponsors step up. It would be even nicer if the money just went in one big pool, however that doesn’t help these sponsors get their money back much. The US wants carrot top doing McDonald’s commercials… we’d have to do something similar, which doesn’t help the little guy so much.
