PRE-GAME RANT
Well, this is a game Canada might need after a tough loss to the US. This SHOULD be an easy game in which they can get their systems in order, and should be light work for Luongo. Yes, Luongo. He’ll get the start in this one, according to Daren Millard’s Twitter. Many people seem to be calling for Brodeur’s head, but I think there was more wrong in that game than just him. It was marred by badly timed penalties (are there good-timed penalties?), as well as a poor, poor play by Corey Perry in the final minute that really hampered a possibility of a comeback.
And well, I hate to take any team lightly, but if Canada loses this one, they really deserve to be out of the tourney. They should win this one, and they should win it by a solid margin as well. I’ll predict a 6-0 victory for this one. Hopefully it’ll give the team a bit of confidence that they will need going into a tough game on Wednesday vs. the Russians. I may be counting my chickens before they hatch, but if the Germans win this one, it’ll be a miracle on ice bigger than the U.S. defeating Russia in 1980. Stranger things have happened though.

POST-GAME RANT
Well, take this one with a grain of salt, as it is just Germany, but the Canadians looked like a much better line, especially for the top line of Crosby, Staal and Iginla. These guys are a heck of a force. Luongo played as solid as you could hope he would. Weber, Doughty, and Keith drew gushes from the panel, and rightfully so. Can they carry that into the game vs. Russia? That’s a good question. We’ll find out tomorrow at 5:30PM, MST.

Canada 8
Germany 2
nah, i just figured i should watch some of the game
The top line has been pretty damn good… I type as they score again…
It’s about time Crosby did something… Oh, tequila shot!
haha, yeah, I pretty much stopped going to MacD’s too, but needed a quick lunch one day and got hooked…I think they season them with crack.
oh man, mcguire talking about legs and leg strength again
I think he wants Weber to wrap his strong legs around him (McGuire)
Tomorrows game with Russia is going to be EPIC.
it will be cool to see if that “one up” each other dynamic occurs here for Sid and Ovie like it often does when the Pens/Caps play.
Oh hell yah, never even thought of that (the Crosby/Ovechkin rivalry). Should be a hell of a battle.
does this boost confidence or build a false sense of security?
Good god, 2 shots of Tequilla there, Trogdor..
mcguire likes his science
Good thing I’m fresh out of tequila.
I’d say after the Swiss and U.S. games it builds confidence, if this team has any sense of security after those two games, there is something seriously wrong with it. I think they’ll be totally jacked tomorrow, and I actually like that we play consecutive nights.
nice goal, Neidermayer!!
if you take a shot everytime mcguire talks about legs you won’t be going to work tomorrow
and good for canada not allowing the germans to have the territorial advantage on that power play
Why does German have a team named after Grizzly Adams? You’d think they’d have one after David Hasslehoff or some other German hero.
Ding! That’s 3 or 4 posts now. AND NASH SCORES!!!
Nash… finally
don’t hassle the hoff!
I don’t care if Pronger is wearing Canadian red… I still hate the douche… we need a replacement word for him, like how we have one for
EklundTwatwaffle.Wow, 2-on-nothing…
2 on 0? Cmon guys. That’s not the way to finish a game.

wrong quote, but you know what I mean.
agreed.
baby-daddy
well definitely a much better game, and the top line really looked like a top line tonight. Can they do the same against the Russians though? I don’t know…. Everybody will be talking about Malkin and Ovechkin and Kovalchuk, but they’ve got a pretty damn good KHL line that has been very good. Could be a wild ride tomorrow.
haha that would be a good idea.
Really digging the Toews-Richards-Morrow line. Heatley is carrying the Sharks line.. Perry and Getzlaf really gotta get going. I think our top line is legit!
Well, that was better. Agreed on that line Horp. A good crash and bang cycle line that isn’t afraid to mix it up. We’ll need every line to play like that tomorrow.
Yup, agreed on all that. I think Getzlaf has looked good throughout the tourney, but his linemates haven’t done him much help it would seem.
Updated the schedule with tomorrow’s games (2 games to be decided tonight still). 5:30 MST vs. Russia tomorrow.. should be a hell of a game!
Just watched the replay of Ashleigh McIvor winning gold in Skicross… awesomenesssss.
That medal celebration is pretty cool stuff. Vancouverites all chanting the lyrics to the instrumental of our anthem. Really, those that are knocking these games can go eff themselves. I think it’s been pretty cool and really enjoyable and Vancouver has been a good host.
Good game from what I saw of it. I really hope we can look back on all this and say, thank God we had that extra game to get our shit together…
Go Canada!
Anyone following the womens figure skating? I’m so proud of Joannie Rochette.
yeah, me too.
