Pitton up, Doobie down… again.

By , January 1, 2010 2:39 pm

As per the Oilers Official Twitter, the Oilers have recalled G Bryan Pitton from Stockton (ECHL) and assigned Devan Dubnyk to Springfield (AHL). Again, this is likely for 1 of 2 reasons: 1) to allow Dubnyk to stretch his legs or 2) for some mercy in Springfield, as they still have yet to win a game (winless in 17) since Dubnyk was recalled. You think we have it bad here?

Ouch. I might see the Falcons on Sunday. Streak breaker?

ECHL? If JD goes down, we’re sooo dead.

I’m sure they’re doing it just to keep Dubnyk fresh, without risking him in an NHL game, since we’ve obviously got such a realistic hope of making the playoffs. :P

According to the calculator, the Oilers would need to finish the next half of the season 23-14-4 (0.610% win percentage) in order to even have a 0.1% chance at the playoffs. That would only put them at 86 points, which we all know ain’t going to really get you in the show.

Let’s say they finish with 91 pts, which would be good enough last year. They’d need to finish 25-11-5 (0.671% win percentage).

On that note, the Oilers are already dead… with JDD, Dubnyk, Khabi, or Jesus in net.

It’s possible, yes.. but the rate they need to get points at puts them in the top 5 as far as win percentages required. So they’d need to win at the same rate as Washington has, for example.

Racki: Well there is no way we are getting in……

… which is what my point was, B.O.

When do the trades start happening?

Annnnny second now… waiiit for itttt!

I honestly don’t have much faith in our GM doing the right thing. Whether Lowe or Katz has their hand up his ass and are manipulating his decisions, I have no idea. Lowe insists Tambellini makes his own decisions though. Anyways, the right thing to do at this point is to start selling.

The rumor mongers (the bigger ones like the papers, Fourth Period, etc.) insist that Tambellini has put several players on the block though.

I think Souray is as good as gone and I have a feeling that the Capital’s will be the ones calling. I know the Caps already have the NHL’s leading point getter on D in Green but Could you imagine Souray’s bomb on the Capitals Powerplay in the Playoffs not to mention his toughness as well. How about Souray for the Caps 1st round pick and Theodore who’s contract expires after this season.

  9. Racki says:

Dubnyk back and already making an impression. He stopped 33 of 34 shots and earned 1st star in a 2-1 win. Again, the Falcons hadn’t won since Dubnyk was originally recalled by the Oilers.
