I’d personally like to see the loser point completely done away with, but if the NHL insists on keeping it, they should go with the IIHF point system – 3 points for a win, 2 points for an OT/SO win, 1 point for an OTL, 0 points for a loss. Every game is worth 3 points.

Of course purists want to get rid of the loser point altogether, and I’m fine with that. But the current point system in the NHL is completely stupid. Pick either no points for OT/SO loss, or follow the IIHF system.
